Yeah, this is an "issue" which has been plauging the Thomas fandom lately; some ridiculous rumor that Edward and Henry are being written out of the Steam Team and the show.First of all, Edward and Henry have been part of the franchise from the very beginning in 1943, and they've appeared in every season of the show since it first started. To kill off a pair of characters that are practically staples of the show would be a very stupid move, and Mattel would never sink to that level.
Secondly, do fans realize that the Steam Team concept is redundant? Yes, engines 1-7 and Emily are the core cast, but since season 17, there's been much more emphasis on on the "& Friends" part of the title. Edward and Henry are still main characters, and again, they always will be.
To put it simply, replacing Edward and Henry in the Steam Team is like replacing the Mane Six with Starlight Glimmer. It's not gonna happen, people! It's a stupid rumor that someone on Twitter spread because of course they wanted to, and if you can't be on Twitter without causing a ruckus among the fandom, why are you still a part of it?
On an unrelated subject; yes, I did see The Unlucky Tug's review on JBS - loaded with Mattel bashing and lamblasting because of course he does. My review with Mike will hopefully provide a corrective to the (frankly unfair) Mattel bashing.

Can't deny that and that's the sad thing about people in fandoms like these with the rumors being created and spread and those who were unfortunate enough to even believe in this over-exaggerations and just agrees with that guy/girl who created the rumor in the first place at an instant and take them to the extreme, to the point of when it becomes so annoying, so aggravating and so blown out of proportion.

I do agree with some of the stuff Tug said - like the parts about Merlin being better exploited - but most of his reasons feel really blown out of proportion...

I honestly think that's stupid and it's just completely uncalled for.
Why the hell would anybody believe that Edward and Henry would be kicked out when they're just being relegated to being secondary characters which are the roles they worked best at since they're mishandled when they're in the spotlight?

Although, Henry was almost written out of the books by Awdry himself. He was only stopped by the number of protests by fans I think.

Indeed. But, honestly, I think that makes things more intreasting. It gives us something to think about, like, where was Henry built and why? How did Sir Topham obtain him?

And there's mysteries surrounding all the characters of the books. Mostly about their pasts, but also some in the more 'current' day:
Thomas - How did he get sent to Sodor if he wasn't originally supposed to be there? Who did he work with on the branchline prior to Toby and Percy? Why did he pick Annie and Clarabel as his coaches?
Edward - How long was he in the shed for? How did he get his branchline and when? Did anyone else join him before BoCo and the Tank Engine twins did?
Henry - Pretty much what I stated above.
Gordon - How often was he used on the GNR, being a prototype? Could he have met Henry before, being his half-brother? What made him give up the express to Pip & Emma so quickly?
James - Why was James built differently to his siblings? Why was he given wooden brakes? Why was he chosen for the mainline instead of a branchline?
Percy - Where did he work prior to Sodor? Did he know he was of GWR origins? How did he look before his rebuilds?
Toby - How did he meet Henrietta & Elsie? Did he work with other engines on the tramway? How long was his tramway struggling before the Stout Gentlemen arrived?
Duck - Did he hold a grudge against the 08s for replacing his siblings? Has he worked on a branchline prior to coming to Sodor? Who's working the yard now he's on a branchline?
Donald & Douglas - Why was Sir Topham so stubborn to keep them apart? Did Donald crash into the signalbox deliberately? How long was it before Douglas was going to be scrapped and Donald intervened?
Oliver - Did he have another coach alongside Isabel? (If so, what happened to him/her?) How did he meet Toad? How long did his escape run take?

Someone just started this rumour just by saying "Edward and Henry are leaving the Steam Team." but they never said who told them, so you're right.

Actually, the person who said that Edward and Henry were being "replaced" was TheLilWestern (AKA Westie) from Twitter. Apparently, he had a friend from Mattel or something and they told him that this early, so he pretty much was the one who stated it in the first place.
Now, I'm not trying to say that we should go after Westie, but I'm just saying that he was the one who started it because one of his friends or followers confirmed he got the thing from a friend who works there.
