Description
Something I just made earlier that evening, my interpretation of James the Red Engine in Lego Digital Designer. Now, before you comment; yes, I know James is portrayed as a 0-6-0 with a four-wheeled tender, but there is a reason for that. What I'm planning on doing is making my own series of Lego Thomas models called LDD Thomas. (Yeah, original, ain't it?For James' model (L4405), the loco itself is 9 studs wide and 18 studs long (excluding buffers and coupling drawbar), and the tender is 8 studs wide and 12 studs long (again, excluding buffers and coupling drawbar). James' middle driving wheels don't have flanges so he can easily navigate curves and he has some cab detail (you can't really see it due to the angle). I initially planned on making James a 7-stud wide engine, but with the size of his driving wheels, I had to work around the problem I landed myself in, having built the tender first. But overall, I'm happy with the results.
Why I made James first was because A) red is the default color in Extended Mode, so most pieces that weren't red were changed to black, gray or yellow, and B) so I could use him as a template for future models. Edward and Thomas are likely to be next on the list.
For future reference:
- All models for standard gauge will be either 8 or 9 studs wide.
- Larger engines and rolling stock will be 24 studs long.
- Medium-sized engines and smaller rolling stock will be 18 studs long.
- Smaller engines and coal tenders will be 12 studs long.

cool model; have you looked into any rendering tools for LDD, such as bluerender or POV-ray?

No prob. His model looks like his actual class with no small wheel.

I've also just finished up Edward, though he is looking a bit like a 2-4-0.

Yep.Think I could try him in black as well? Not sure if I'll do him in yellow and black though.
