Description
The Christian and Disciple were created by Kent Clark Disciple was created at my prompting as a commission. I asked him to design a friend for Christian. Disciple has a Shield of Faith. It's not a physical object and will shield him from whatever he believes he needs protection from.Awesome colors by Lines and layout by me.

This is well done and Raku's colors make your lines sing as always, but one little niggle I have is how Christian is holding the hammer. It seems like he has no real grip on it, even for a guy with such large hands. I would have expected him to be holding it kind of relaxed; one hand on the shaft with the head of the hammer in his other hand, or perhaps leaning on it like a cane.
I love the idea of the Shield of Faith. I could just imagine some stories surrounding its effectiveness, provided some effective, in-depth writing about Disciple's personal life and/or responsibilities spilling over into his super hero duties, etc.

Thanks, DM. For Christian's pose I tried several until I landed on one I felt properly displayed the power I wanted to come across in the image I wanted to create. Putting the hammer across his body as you describe, I admit I tried and rejected it because it broke up his lines and detracted from his power stance. The hammer is an odd length for a weapon, so I had to make some choices. Leaning on it was out because it's too short and I didn't want to put it on his back, or simply redraw what Kent had already done [link] I really appreciate the feedback and this is one that I took time and care before I sent it to Ismael. I got what I wanted this time.
Yeah, you could write stories for this guy rather easily as I didn't give him any other powers.

You know, it's really fun when you do something for someone and they like it. Makes you feel good. It's more fun nowadays with my art because even I can see my improvement. I'm almost a little bit mad I burned my bridges on penciljack. lol almost.

I more than like it! It's amazing! Is the shield a spiritual construct or technology based? I can't remember if I mentioned this but I love the emblem on the gloves and how they both have it. I think it shows a cool camaraderie.
Penciljack is okay. I think the people there are a little too eager to tear down the art of others under the disguise of 'critique'. There are some who are genuinely trying to help people improve but entirely too many who just belittle. I don't think you are missing much but I will say that ,while I didn't get on there intending to worry about improving my art, I have found myself thinking more about backgrounds and perspective than I ever have before so maybe some good has come of it after all.

The people on penciljack are brutally honest. I went there knowing that and I have no complaints. You will definitely improve going there.

I saw and read a comic based on Samson... He was blind but could see villains with the eyes of faith that other heroes could not see.. He would be fighting Dagon and other demons while other heroes looked on not understanding or seeing... love your creating Christian faith based heroes! Excellent!!
Now I have another question to ask out of curiosity? Why is his hammer KJV... Not that it matters to me but... Why not just say the word or the book.. or knowledge or wisdom? Because wouldn't he study the word in it original languages? Hebrew(Old Testament) and Greek(New Testament)? Or wouldnt he have the bible in various translations( Modern English or Amplified, etc... etc...)

No, why would it be antagonistic? I was thinking that him being powerful as he is he would have a greater insight than normal... and so he would understand all types of languages and interpretations.

Like I said, It was just a design element I felt was universally understood. His original design, just has a cross on it. I can't get deep and philosophical about a character that's not mine. The nature of your question is antagonistic as it assumes that what I put wasn't good enough, and shouldn't be accepted for what it is, without even bothering to know anything more about the character than the image before you. If you had, then you could EASILY see that I changed the the design with artistic license and all questions about him should be directed to I could just have easily put ANYTHING Christian related there. KJV is just one element in the Christian faith.
I'm sure Kent would love to have a theocratic discussion with you about his character. If you had asked about Disciple, who is mine, then I've got answers for you.

But as much as I love science and science fiction, I need evolution! As for gays, I'm not gonna watch two dudes kiss(or anything sexual) but all HUMANS have rights! Bible says it's sin in New Testament. Bible also condones slavery. Even tells you how to treat them. Guess what? All modern Christians are picking and choosing what they like and don't like from the Bible whether they know it or not. So I choose to treat my fellow man with respect.
