Description Practicing Chamba style coloring on some fanart of 's Seismic. I did an alternate universe version before as I find his costume intricate but I think I was able to get it right this time.

Define "failed". Because it looks pretty good to me. If anything, it means that you are getting something out of the coloring style that goes beyond mimicking Chamba's work to the letter, even if the results aren't 100% to your liking. And as good as Chamba is, the last thing you want to be is a clone of him or anyone else.

Well, there are some very hard shadows that I didn't intend where it's solid black on the interior of the image. I didn't color it that way but there it is. Chamba also produces a glossy look in his final product by way of placing highlights that I couldn't reproduce either. It was a bit frustrating even with the information right there. it's like getting a "B" on an open book test. I learned a lot though and I cant wait to try it again and then on some sequential work.

Sounds like you just need to experiment more. Try to think of the look you want and think of different ways that you can use to reproduce the effect on your own. Use filters, different brushes, different blending modes...make copies of your layers and go nuts.

Still, like I said, I think it looks great. I'm eager to see how well you do in the future.
