Hahaha this is awesome. And I have to say very entertaining and well written. I'm also struck by how you so closely nailed Kolossus characterization making it feel very legitimate in their back and forth dialog. He absolutely would take advantage of that flower (nice fanservice nod there!) and be angry at being 'saved' from it. I also love your rendition of him as well. Great stuff. I did -not- expect a full comic. A follow up shot's fired image but not THIS.  Love it.

But since you went there...I'm not entirely sure  how long 'null' would actively hold up. That Kolossus bends and breaks the rules as part of his strength increase basically making the impossible possible and analytically one could go round the bend over and over again about null and void and oblivion and filling it making it no longer null. The intention is that absolute  powers are no longer as clear when he's involved and can actually produce results wildly unexpected to both parties. Basically I didn't want some of the OCs out there with quick 'i snap my finger and win' abilities to have an easy out.  So how EASILY he withstood that escalation may be in question. I suppose it could be also said that L’Epex  knew this an that was why he reacted as quickly as he did when Kolossus warned he was just getting started.

ALL THAT BEING SAID - the creative final solution is exactly the type of response we've been looking for - quite valid and  the fact that the FULL combined force of galactic energy was release inside his skull a trillion times over and it's only temporarily knocked him out tickles me to no end. You well represented the scope of Kolossus and that's why this 'defeat' doesn't ring hollow and possibly sets up for more to come

After all it's just a 'What If' within an infinite multitude of 'what ifs'. So of course you know, this means war  (But probably not in the form of a comic sequence! lol.)

Well done!

thanks Mike, I appreciate that man. And I'm glad I was able to capture the jist of your character. the overview of Kolossus you gave me really painted a solid image of his personality.
And sure, It's not my intent for L'Epex just to be able to BEAT everyone down. His Power has limits and against a foe like Kolossus the best he could do is slow him down if he gets the right tactic. But Like you I was kind of motivated to create a character that could hold his own against all of the MEGA Over powered beings that seemed to be popping up around DA and elsewhere.
But rather than compete head to head strength wise I went in the opposite direction, Infinite strength/energy nullification.
So I'd like to see how you'd have Kolossus deal with L'Epex.
Frankly However I don't think Kolossus could ever really DEFEAT/kill L'Epex. L’Epex was created to basically be able to survive any natural forces. The simple way i think of L'Epex’s Null force power is in a mathematical sense. His Null power is equivalent to ZERO. Anything X Zero = ZERO. Any force that comes against his personal null field is like multiplying their strength/energy against a wall of ZER0. the impact will always equal ZERO. Infinity times Zero equal ZERO. But if Kolossus is going to BREAK the laws of Math, Physics and/or reality because he's just that strong, then it seems to me that it’d be like REMOVING zero from from reality. what would the consequences of that be?

But yeah pure BRUTE STRENGTH is not a Good weapon against L’Epex. his real weaknesses are time travel/energy and some VERY powerful spiritual or magical powers.

mikewinn In reply to ADE-doodles [2017-10-31 03:00:40 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely. I think it read that way which is why it came across as sincere. I think both character power levels were well represented and it all made perfect in universe and contextual sense. Neither character feels cheated but both are adequately represented

I also think you're right that under standard circumstances it'd be as you say  and it'd just be an eternally escalating contest. I didn't design Kolossus to be able to -beat- everything as much as survive everything and overpower the over powered  physically. His limits are expressed differently much as  L'Epex admitted Kolossus could rip his arm off/free himself if he was given a chance. The limits were nicely touched on.

However it -is- indeed possible for Kolossus to 'break 0'. That is the implication of how horrible his physical scale is. However, I designed the reality warping aspects of Kolossus abilities - not as an excuse to have him always-win but just as a way to enable a story to move beyond some of the 'absolute' abilities some folk have tried to throw his way just to say 'I win!' But even in doing so, the results are not directed by Kolossus but instead Jack Kirby Fourth World stuff happens that surprises all parties involved and leaves some things, perhaps, a bit inconclusive.

So for example, the strength that destroyed a universe is miniscule compared to his monstrous force he's coming with now and then suddenly Kolossus 'breaks 0' through brute strength. A whole new situation begins as primordial horrors start rolling into the multiverse, unmaking everything and Kolossus has to be convinced to calm down and put his ego aside and get to work with L'Epex to keep the existential horrors from escaping to inhabited universes while the result of his action gets repaired.

Hmm...In fact that might just be the subject of my little idea actually  -

EIther way, whatever imaginative story results is the point there and I'm glad, regardless, you did what you did..

LOL!! that's cool.
Ok, alright, ahem, Obviously this is part of a DREAM sequence Kolossus is having here.
If he REALLY met L'Epex he'd show the proper respect... unlike some artist that will go unnamed on DA (Gray Pope).
And Frankly Kolossus would never a get clean punch in.
But yes, Kolossus is physically stronger than L'Epex, but L'Epex does not simply rely on strength. Tell me, How does an infinitely powerful punch feel to someone who can NEGATE any level of striking power with the "Null Force"? Check mate sir. So yeah keep dreaming Gar...I mean... Kolossus.
All Due respect to MikeWinn. But I'll have to redeem L'Epex's O.P. honor visually at a later date.

lol - well I do love me a good old fashioned comic book style trash-talk-flex off Gary's started something now. I had  a full bio of Kolossus along with his feats and powers but pulled it down because it was to spammy and not well written. I"ll have to get it fixed and put back up with his proper graph stats.

But gotta step in here for my guy as alas no dreaming here. Being the incarnation of a universal primordial principle of strength and force itself....something that dealt with Null Force would probably actually only egg him on. He makes a career out of breaking the unbreakable and turning no's to yes to no and physics warping as his infinite strength has been known to rise to reality breaking levels. How can one warp reality with brute strength alone? I guess you'll have to just get that strong to find out! :So what would -likely- happen is some Jack Kirby style Fourth World esque shenanigans when put against the Null Force as the two forces clashed. The stuff crossovers are made of. So alas no check mate as it likely wouldn't end up being a reliable defense. I'm sure L'Epex would make things entertaining. Let's see that art redemption! Can't wait to see it!

Maybe! It's hard to find extra time to draw things like this sometimes for some of us. This is more abit of a distraction. A warm up. I've got an idea and permission to do something so I'm gonna whip together a couple of images of Kolossus shortly but after that I'm gonna see who does what or wants to do what before getting to  involved. I'm always up for a good trash talking session though, haha.
