this is the way i draw fur ^^

THERE ARE NO LINES TILL YOU GET TO THE SHAPE PART.

uhh hope this helps. important brush to have is the mix tool, you can also use a bit of the air brush but not to much, just to help with shadows and shape.

also lower opacity when dosing the shading and use a fade in to out.

and of course i suggest you look up irl reference for what animal your doing, i like fluffer animals because its a lot easer, things like a lions mane can have a different flow then a rabbit
