Description
So I pulled the ear antenna things off of the Optimus Prime voice changer helmet, made molds of them, and resin cast them so I could have the helmet and a pair of android ears to wear. They're Gorilla Glue'd to a headband that we bought at Walgreens. I love these things! I want to make a bunch of them in lots of fun cyberpunk colors!Related content

These are awesome! I was searching for headphones that looked something like this but couldn't find any Do you have any tips for making headphone covers (with simple construction, i.e. paper, cardboard, foil; anything that's not plastic)?

Not really, I've only made these with plastic. I'd say try working with craft foam and contact cement if you want to make a pair yourself.

I actually made some really nice vacuformed antennae, but the process is pretty time consuming.

This would look amazing with some sort of light-up effect. I would totally pay +30$ if they did.

I'm thinking about it. I can definitely make them light up for cheap, it's just a matter of finding out the best way to go about it. I need to get the molds working better first. I don't like how uneven the wall thickness of slush casting is, and pouring resin without pressure casting makes a lot of little unwanted air bubbles.

I'm buying more resin tomorrow so I'll let you know how it turns out! I would like them to be able to rotate and not point straight up, but I don't think that's anything I can do right now. I have a pair of Sony headphones that I'm going to try to attach these to.

They should've made something like that in the first place with real big comfy cushioning and good sound. These would make a killing at comic con!

I know, I don't understand it. Android ears have been popular in anime for a loooong time, and you never see people making or selling them as either headband attachments, earmuffs, or headphones. I have a whole folder of designs that I want to do if this test project with the Optimus Prime ones is successful.

Thanks! I've always wanted "android ears", nobody makes them, and I had some parts and thought I'd take a crack at it.
Now to find out if anyone else is willing to pay for a pair.....

That was my initial thought, but large over-the-ear headphones that have adjustable straps are hinged in a way that would make these awkward to wear. Smaller headphones would work, but if I'm going to wear headphones, I want something that sounds good. I don't know, I'm still messing with the idea. This is definitely a step in the right direction though :3

Thanks! I need to fine tune the inside of them and make them a thinner resin shell, but I really liked how these prototypes turned out. They were not quite solid resin, they had a bit of a concave shape, but even for as much resin as it was they really weren't heavy to wear. :3 Now I want to make more and paint them in every metallic color I have.

Nice. I don't know much about resin, or anything else within propbuilding.... But I do enjoy the aesthetics of the stuff made!
Look forwards to see it done :3
