Description
I ran across this voice changer helmet at a thrift store, and thought it would look better if it looked like it was made out of iron and steel. I like it! I think it'll make a fun helmet to wear to conventions. It's pretty light, and I can see out of it all right.Related content

They got these helmets here in China for cheap with the identical helmet but with a crap soundboard. What happens here in the factories that make em originally is they got the molds for the same parts, after they made the real ones, they continue to make a bunch with imitations like "Tramsfourners" instead of proper spelling so to not incur copyright infringement. But its much cheaper. I've gotten them before unfortunately I wanted the real soundboard for it not the crappy version that didn't have optimus's sound in it.

Also, I have a spare one for parts, you want me to mail you the electronic guts? I'm not going to use them.

I went and bought the real ones, much more expensive but I got one. Thanks for the offer and you should keep it for like Bane voice changer or something.

I know, I've been absolutely fascinated with the business behind Chinese manufacturing for years. The manufacturer doesn't own the intellectual property, like Optimus Prime, for example, but they own the molds, and can do whatever they want with them. Contract with Bandai to make Power Rangers figures just expired? That's okay, we'll make "Spider Avengers" figures with the molds and some cheaper plastic, slap some random graphics on the front of the cardboard packaging, sell them cheap, and still turn a profit.
If I had the time and the money, I'd go back to school to study industrial engineering and minor in Chinese so I can see more of it.

You know they are reissuing old TMNT toys right? The old factories have the molds and license companies are reordering the old toys for big boys.

Yeah I was wondering about that. The original molds have to be at least 20 years old by now though.

Thanks! I need to add some more little details and clearcoat it, but it's definitely a keeper! I have a second one that I want to paint up to look like a futuristic fighter ship pilot helmet, like X-wing pilots or BSG Viper helmets.

Thanks! If I had the time, I'd build a Viper cockpit style set and do weekly blog videos from it. Maybe after things settle down here a bit.

It sounds pretty nasty. [link]
I like to walk around the house with it on and yell "I AM THE CATLORD! BOW BEFORE ME, CATS! MEOW MEOW MEOW!"

Wow. I thought it'd sound a bit better given how technology has advanced, heh. But still seems amusing to use the way you put it. XD
