something else from the vault...back in 03 i was one of many artist asked for my take on designing a new show called Xiaolin Showdown....and this is one of the few pieces i came up with. this concept blatantly based on a popular movie at the time....
obviously they didn't go my direction.....oh well, ya can't win 'em all.
at the very least it shows all of you that i can draw a little more than death, demons and destruction...

to be clear, my concept stuff was in the running with a few other guys( or gals....i dunno). so this was before the show went into production and became whatever you experienced on screen. since i didn't get the job, i don't know if they used anything i did.....and i never saw the show. even though i knew my kid brother was a real fan of it
that's a long way of me saying i don't know who "Jack Spicer" is.....also that my concept stuff is not really significant to the show. what you have seen here just happened to be something i liked out of the bunch. so i posted it.

This is beautiful! Omi's walking on trees, presumably using his Xiaolin Dragon skills or practicing in order to improve said skills.
The skin colour you used for Omi here makes more sense than his utter yellowness in the show. I guess that if I ever decide to try and make it make sense, I'll imagine Omi, Dashi and any of the other yellow characters with the skin colour you gave him here. And yeah, I probably talked too much about skin colour there. Don't worry, I'm not racist or anything - or at least, I don't think I am.
Anyway, what I basically mean is: I like the show and this is beautiful!

i never got to work on the show. this was my take on those characters, trying to vie for the character design position on that show. guess the wanted to go in a different direction...

naw...you don't take those things personally. doesn't matter how good of an artist you are....sometimes you can't get picked for every job out there.
for the most part i usually get the jobs i go out for, so i'm cool with taking a loss every once in a while

Like the robe, better than the one they chose as the final design. But I hate the color, it should have been either red or black with white complementing it as it did in your drawing.
