Oh my god. you people realize that the artist doesn't get to choose what get's a DD. i still have no clue what so ever of why this was chosen as a DD so stop discussing it here. if you dont like it. tell the proper people you can find it here FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?
and as for "lumping cutting and suicide together", what can i say... i'm sorry. i'm not going to change it now, and at the time it was what was going through my mind.
for the people who are saying stuff about how cutting can be good. well. i wont lie, my best friend used to cut. she did it to relieve stress. but from my personal standpoint, i know it isn't healthy, and it is something i am very glad i never did.
and if i was refering to assisted suicide i would have put that so please stop using that as an argument as well. i was talking about self suicide. like slitting your wrists or hanging yourself and so on.
any other haters out there... well i'm sorry you feel that way i am not here to change your feelings however.
******UPDATE******
I just uploaded an apology deviation. I feel it's necessary

Ok ya i don't think anyone in their right mind would support suicide or self harm of any kind. Why there would be a debate about this is beyond me.As in self harm i dont mean tatts and piercings i mean harm to hurt harm to end all.Sadly depression and other mental illnesses are well lets say glorified by subcultures.Odd isn't it people are so desperate to separate from the norm they risk the greatest separation of it all and the people who really do have issues are sadly mixed in with the rest and are over looked as just another ''emo'' or what have you.Anyways just dumb to think theirs a opposite to this.Oh and before i forget there is a 3rd self harm but that's for gain and enlightenment not so much to end ones life really the opposite. And strikes me as odd that one would want release from pain yet they don't do that , i mean you cut yourself ok...so wheres the pay off? there isnt one , your not only STILL in emoutional pain but now your sliced open=\ ,maybe you forget about the emotional for a few ,but it comes back, kind of a crappy revolving door.Same goes with suicide if you REALLY want to die , then do it, i mean if you feel that there is nothing currently in this world or there will never be nothing in this world to live for ,then it's your choice, but f there is any doubt ,why keep pussy footin around it and go some where and get help? i mean it's not that hard , coming from experience i know it's not that hard.Christ i could go on abut this all day but then again im sure i ll have enough persecution for my comment as it is lol which is fine, gotta love bein human choice and free will and thought.I don't take any of this lightly but i gotta question peoples logic these days.

I like what you're trying to say, but as someone who's been through all that and still dealing with it I feel like this is seriously alienating.
I love your concept though... the delivery is just to blatant for the sensitive subject matter.
Congrats on the DD though!!

i've been through it too. and only with the help of my friends have i made it through majority of it.
a lot of people say it's alienating... i dont see it. is it because i say i dont support these things... because i am saying i dont support the actions. the people need help... trust me i know

do you not think that saying you do not support suicide and self harm makes those that have those thoughts feel more alienated?

if i was intending that i would have said that i dont support the people who do that. i dont support the actions... the people... if they do any of these things... they probably need all the help they can get. including support from their friend

Don't be so pretentious. This is this person's personal beliefs, so don't go assuming they're against human rights, it's rude.

I love this stamp. When I get a sub it is the first stamp going up. I attempted suicide about a year ago after my best friend was killed, thankfully, it didn't work and I survived but with the help of my friends I haven't attempted it since...I really agree with this stamp. I never want anyone to ever have to feel like they have to resort to suicide or cutting themselves. Great work here!

I just took a little bit of a gander at the rest of your gallery and I noticed some of your other stamps. Based on definition that self harm is an infliction of harm/pain upon ones self...
Piercings and tattoos are, literally, both a form of self harm. I'm just wondering why you are so strongly against cutting but support self harm through the form of decoration?
If it is because piercings and tattoos are controlled and may have meaning, what are your thoughts on scarification as a means of body decoration?
I have my own thoughts on it, but I'm quite interested in outside opinions. Don't worry, I am not after an argument (i'm sure you've had enough of that), I'm just really curious about it.

scarification has meaning and is controlled for the most part. usually doctors are on hand for anything that might come up. but cutting yourself is just a slash across the arm usually to bring pain for endorphins(my spelling sucks) it has no meaning or or reason. that's what i think

ninykinin In reply to i-am-anonymous [2008-10-21 00:44:57 +0000 UTC]
I believe that anything has the potential to have a meaning, but I also relate with your opinion on cutting.
I don't support, no do I condemn it.
I have known people who have used it as a vent, without that vent they say they would have killed themselves. Sure, they are paranoid schizophrenics and I don't fully understand why they would do it to themselves, but that's just more reason for me to try to understand. I don't think people people are self destructive for no reason, cutting is just a symptom of another cause.
On the topic of scarification, I'd like to take a gander at your sources, I am curious. Here in Aust doctors will refuse to assist in scarification because it's a big risk at loosing their license. I guess it is probably different in the US.
I really enjoy this stamp, and reading peoples reactions to it.
Keep your chin up and try not to let peoples comments get you down. Remember, everything they are saying is an individual opinion, think about what their reactions mean to you and access and adjust your own thoughts if you feel the need to.
Oh, and don't worry about your spelling, to much. The only people who will bother pointing it out are fools who don't have the motivation to put in a decent argument, and instead will try to build themselves up by pointing out grammar and spelling mistakes.
My spelling is pretty bad too.
Chin up, I look forward to hearing from you again.

my best friend used to cut. and she swears by it.. she tells me that it helped her cope with stress and anger. i dont like that she used to...but she is still my best friend!
honestly i had watched a National Geographic show about it. they were talking about Tattoos and piercings and scarification. it's not popular in the US and the people who usually do it... do it in private so that they dont have to pay expensive costs. but anyway... the show i watched had one US feature on Scaring. but like many in South America, and in Africa. the doctors were local doctors who understood what was going on internally during the process. this way any complications could be quickly dealt with. Anyway...
i'm glad somebody enjoys the stamp. the main thing i like about it is that it has given me the chance to help people out with problems. but keeping my chin up has been very difficult lately.

It scares me when people type in their journals "I cried for like, three hours and slit my wrists". Not only do I imagine the pain every time I read it, I also think "What the flying hell is wrong with this person!?" I understand they feel it's the only way to escape the pain, but geez, why? Just... ugh.
And then those who think about suicide, I despise that too. Not the person, but the thought. *sigh*
My nagging aside, this stamp is faved.
