Description
I thought I would do a tribute to the original Amazing Fantasy #15 cover by Jack Kirby (the comic with Spider-man's first appearance) with the costume from the Amazing Spider-man movie. It was a little bit of a challenge to meld the new costume and the man he is carrying with the original cover to make it look as one but hopefully I pulled it off alright. The criminal he is carrying is also based on a mix of the thieves he encounters in the movie as well.
The background is mostly a scan of the original Kirby cover's text/ buildings and environment but since Andrew Garfield's figure is a much slenderer Spider-man I had to add some new parts that were not there originally.
This is a little different than the stuff I normally do but it was fun! Hope you enjoy
Original cover illustrated by Jack Kirby, book written by Stan Lee, interior illustrations by Steve Ditko.

The suit was was one of the few things I liked, I think it's better than before because it establishes the movie's identity. Also, I didn't really think I'd like the movie so much, I really just went to chew it out. But much to my surprise, it jump started my love for the character and was so good (unfortunatly, the Lizard in the film was so bad).

Yeah it really does give it it's own feel. I honestly just knew it had to be better than the third Spider-man movie lol, but other than that I wasn't sure what to expect. I liked the chemistry between Gwen and Peter a lot

Yes that works, but more importantly what I loved about it is it didn't just stick to one continuity. Rather it mixed continuities between the original and the ultimate comics. The origin was the same for both Spider-Man and the Lizard, yet the idea of letting Gwen in on the plan was much like Peter and MJ in the ultimate.
All this makes not only a good movie, but carves a brand new universe unique to these movies. In reality, the Nolan Batman films did the same thing with Batman. That's why I find it hypocritical people ping Spider-Man yet praise the Dark Knight.

Yes I agree, it mixed continuities very well while still maintaining it's own identity. Yeah I'm not sure why there are so many people criticizing it, I'm hoping it will gain more appreciation in time, especially when a sequel comes out.

Oh yeah same here! The acting in that movie was truly amazing, it's hard to say who's the better Spidey because Tobey brought the older, mature, and the whole financial stuff that Peter actually does in the comic while Andrew brings the gawky teenage angst. It's hard to choose

Nice turn on an old image, but I would like to point out that Jack Kirby did that cover and not Ditko. Ditko did the interior art.

Actually... Kirby penciled the cover while Ditko inked it.....Ditko did do a cover for #15 but was rejected and then Stan commissioned his friend Kirby to help.
