Some backstory for my OC Goldenthorn in me and my friends Warriors!verse!

Her parents are Blizzardswan and Marigoldwing, two proud and talented warriors of RainClan; both of them can trace their lineage back to the original generation that founded the four Clans. Marigoldwing, it's believed, is a possible direct descendant of Heavy Rain themselves. Both were young and hotheaded, and they were the opposites attract kind of pair. She was a dedicated, hardworking, somewhat micromanaging she-cat who acted like she had a lot to prove. He was something of a charming, lazy philanderer who was a marvel in battle. They never became true mates, in the sense that they were partners in any way, but they definitely had a fling. In late autumn. And Blizzardswan became pregnant.

Goldenthorn was one of three kittens born in the dead of winter. Her brother, Brackenkit, was born first. She came second. And the third, final kit was a stillborn. Further misfortune came when a whitecough epidemic swept through the Clans in the late winter, which took Brackenkit and left Goldenkit the only living kitten of the litter.

Blizzardswan didn't take it very well.

From a young age, Goldenthorn (then Goldenkit) was often treated as a burden and a failure; nothing she did could impress her demanding, fussy, angry mother, and Marigoldwing was always distant and couldn't seem to be bothered to show interest in his lone surviving kit's life.

By the time mid-spring rolled around, Goldenkit was old enough to be Goldenpaw. Determined to earn her mother's affection and her father's attention, she was an eager learner when Fernstar, RainClan's leader himself, took her on as his own apprentice. But when it became apparent that nothing she did would earn either of these things, Goldenpaw in turn became introverted, sullen, and bitter. Fernstar did his best to give Goldenpaw the attention and care that she needed, but nothing could replace her parents' presence. Only when she showed exceptional promise did Marigoldwing even begin to truly acknowledge his daughter's prowess, but by then it was too late.

Blizzardswan and Marigoldwing still remain cold and distant to one another to this day. When it came time for the Gathering where Goldenpaw was announced ready to be a warrior, she instead decided to declare herself for TideClan and to Thornstar. Fernstar even seemed proud of his apprentice's defiance, and gave her a sterling recommendation to the hardened TideClan leader. More on all of that later, perhaps?

To this day, Goldenthorn lowkey resents both of her parents. Blizzardswan has moved on and has already had a second litter with a different warrior, and Goldenthorn has noticed that her mother is far more invested in this litter than she ever was in her. On the other paw, through the resentment, Goldenthorn and her father have something of an awkward rapport, as he always makes it a point to say hello to her at Gatherings.
