All right! Now I've gotten through, and personally interpreted, all the dragons we saw in the Dragon Manual (not counting the Boneknapper)!
Just like with the Skrill, this one took me a while to "get right" because of its weird mouth, but I'm finally happy with the result xD

The Whispering Death is interesting because it's ancestors have obviously been capable of flying, but have somewhere down the line chosen a life on the ground instead of a life in the air. Its wings have become sturdy, powerful arms with three hooked claws which it uses to climb and crawl through the rocky landscapes it has made its home. The dragons long, snake-like body is packed with muscles, making it much too heavy for flying, but it is instead an excellent swimmer and has been observed to be able to hold its breath for almost 15 minutes when diving for fish.
Unlike most other dragons, the Whispering Death cannot make any other sounds besides hisses. And should it feel threatened by anything, it will first loudly hiss to show its displeasure, before either spitting out a shower of scorching hot embers to blind the threat, or flat out attack it. It is mostly the young Whispering Deaths who will spray embers, as they are not be large enough to successfully protect themselves by fighting most of the time.
Dragon experts agree that this dragon is quite intelligent, as they have noticed when observing them the dragons have seemingly observed them back. Experts deem its intelligence and self-awareness to be on par with that of a Night Fury.

UhhuhuhhuUUHGHGHAFJHJKSAFHJLIDSF!!

Oh Iceway, I am cringing in my chair here.... Ohhh it's so big and freakyyyyy.... X____X

Hehe, I love the jaws in those two side-views at the bottom.... they kinda make me think of.... deep-sea angler fish. X-)

And GUHHHHHH look at it pouncing on that little deer!

I love, LOOOOOVE how BIG you've made it.... And that it can't fly. And that it can swim. And that it lives in a rocky environment. OH for creeping evil it's so HUGE.... o_o;;;

For reasons I can't presently say, this page just makes me very, very.... um.... happy.

Based the jaw on those of Gulper Eels actually, they have these weird, huge jaws o.O'

Well, it's body is just way to long for it to comfortably fly, isn't it? And not to mention heavy...

I always imagined it to be huge and freakishly long xD In the image from the Dragon Manual there seems to be coils and coils of the dragon

Oh reeeeally?

Cool, I understand that the mouth were a problem for you. That's a LOT of teath to get in the right angle. >_< yet you did a wonderfol job as always. Did you made all that up about this dragon or is this really from the movie??? O.O I still haven't seen it. xD Well I don't think I seen the DVD in any store yet either..?

Iceway In reply to Shiro87 [2011-06-30 18:02:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, and how the mouth would work anatomically too Dx
Heh, I made up that journal entry, the only thing we get about it from the movie is its picture x)
Wow, really? It's been in stores here since November last year...

Shiro87 In reply to Iceway [2011-06-30 20:00:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that to, yet you did a good job on it. The jaw looks like simular to sort of a alga eater, not having especially strong jaws. The teath appear to have the function to mostly just hold it's pray to prevent it to escape before it can swallow it whole. This is a dragon that swallow it pray whole right? I hope I am not compleatly wrong here but that's how it looks like. xD

Really? Then it's pretty interessting concept. 8)

Yeah, I think I never seen it in any store yet! xD Yet I could probably order it on internet.

Lol what a coincidence, I just happened to see a little bit of the movie on tv 1000 today but my dad wanted to watch something else. :,( Well it seemed to be in the middle of the movie anyway. It was really nice animated, the dragons moved very realistic. I could just "feel" their movement just by watching them move. *0* Lol hard to explain, it's the same whit a few disney movies I seen like jungle book. The movements is just fabulus and feels so real to the eye like the characters were really alive.

Cool!

If you do the Bonenapper, and would like to do one more, at the end of the HTTYD video game, there's a new dragon called a Grapple Grounder. Just thought you might like to know.

Well, I don't know about the Boneknapper, since it is in the Legend of the Boneknapper short, and is thus officially "seen on screen" :/

Don't worry, I own the game myself And I am considering making one for the Grapple Grounder as well just have to find the time to do it Dx

Ha-ha, I'm still trying to get a satisfactory Boneknapper. The darn beasts are SO HARD to draw!

Oh, cool! (yeah, I didn't know whether you did or not. SO I just threw it out there) Oh, that menacing, not-enough-of-it force called TIME.
