Thanks! I tried to give it a more realistic watercolor effect than my past Sugimori attempts. I probably could've downloaded brushes to make the process easier, but nah... had to take the long way around with a round brush, eraser tool, and filters. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but I don't know if I'll be able to manage it again. Dx

Practice is the keyword. It happened to me several times too, especially with the shades. I remember when I was starting that the problem was the shades' tones (I used to use pure black and grays, then I changed it to transparent dark purple to do it in a more smooth and natural way). Sometimes a use pure black but only to highlight stuff or suggest folded or bent areas that can't be suggested by any other way.  Then, the problem was the gradient sometimes I use color tones of shades but sometimes I combine the lights too. In summary I felt that way too XD

I used black here, but I copied the "flat" colored drawing to the top and changed the blending mode to Color so the shadows wouldn't look too grey.

I tried the style again here and I think I got it pretty close to this one. I'll be adding another stage to the line, so maybe I'll make notes when I get to that so I can remember how I did it in the future.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Nice and simple design.

I'm still working on its pre-evos and can't decide if I want to make it a Stage 2 like Butterfree or a Stage 1 like Venomoth... Hopefully I finish them soon because I really want to make a card with it!
