I feel so inspired these days, which is awesome because then I make things.I made this in an hour or so today, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. It's actually meant to be an anatomy study, but I'm thinking of turning him into a desert soldier kind of guy, with swords and a poncho and what-not. Suggestions are as always more than welcome, and so are comments and critique.

Hmm,you had expressed that you don't enjoy that it looks slightly artificial,yet also state that was your aim? A tad contradictory don't you think? 
At this point,the anatomy is very good,for any medium,but digital? Wow.
He appears realistic,although there are some obvious differences,which probably explain your dissatisfaction. The body overall is unrealistically smooth,if it's possible,using some sort of texture feature of the photoshop/editor program would help. Also,there needs to be more shading/colouring to define the contours of the figure,especially in the front,the back is a little better. It appears as if he is wearing skin-tight flesh tone body suite at the moment.
One other obvious difference (well hopefully if you've used a model for this!) is that he's missing body parts. However since it's a work in progress that's understood. Plus,in my opinion it looks great this way because you were consistent and there's more focus on the figure. The different positions are good as well,although a bit stiff.
Keep making progress on this,or leave it 'as is'; wonderful work!

Thanks for the thorough comment! The smoothness is due to few polygons in the model, I wanted to just block in the basic muscle groups, focusing on the general shape of it all, like you said.
