Beautiful knitted stems Ian, I have to take a break from exploring the mandelbox worlds to go though your gallery!

Thanks, Johan! Joining the Flatlanders for that retro 2D experience

Guess so, seen from flatland everything looks beautiful, and I like retro!
Actually I love the mandelbrot set in 2D, even more beautiful than the mandelbulb!
Spent a lot of time rendering zooms in the eighties...

Have you seen those deep zooms? I think the record stands at 2.1e275. The 2D set is certainly the most beautiful When the bulb was first discovered, I was intrigued but didn't think much to it aesthetically. But the Mandelbulber software has opened it up so much, it's truly an alien universe to be explored/created...

Yeah, I'd love to have a HDR copy of one of them running at repeat at home.
The things I render nowadays is hybrids of different formulas found (the Mandelbox etc.) during the search for "the holy grail" which not even Daniel White thinks of the Mandelbulb as. He (and others @ fractalforums) are still in the search of a real 3D equivalent to the 2D M-set, I hope they find it

This is incredible work, the depth is scary if you are afraid of heights!

Hadn't seen that connection before, but you're quite right - there is almost an undulation of movement down the scale

This fractal is among the most unique I've ever seen. In fact, I didn't realize it was a fractal until I full-viewed! The sense of foliage is perfect.
