Note to self, bring anti-magic shell. Got it! Hmmm...Makes me think of a place that I might send my character Black Staff to one day. Gah, he would go out of his mind.

Send him withintent (insert space as desired
)

Then again, he travels through rifts in time and space...He might be used to that sort of stuff. Hmmmm... with tent...no he doesn't sleep indoors...with intent...maybe closer to correct.

It actually looks like forest with those colours.. Nice one.

I actually created a custom gradient from a forest picture - a technique worth remembering for the representational end of fractals

I'll try that sometime. Making ur own gradient gave you a lot more power over the final result

I was really pleased at how it turned out. I set my 'spare' PC to render a print (100 hours
) and now the thing's died on me. I shall need to summon up the motivation to investigate...

Well, at 12000 x 9000 and Q=10000, it was always going to be long... I found out today that it blew 1.5GB of memory (unless that was a storm - I wasn't at home at the time). Still, I have my rendering machine back, albeit on crutches, cracking on with my latest animation. Pity I can't post it here with the sound, but I shall post the silent version

I was delighted with how the gradient emphasised that aspect of it

This grabbed me so much I had to see how you did it, so Seals Slip-Sway Kelpbed Songs [link] is thanks to you and Joel Faber's Tut.

There's a definite absence of directional sense too - gravity looks the other way

This is really cool Ian. This forest looks like a mutation of Shroom Worl. I love it

I am lost. I'm in the process of attempting to cure a headache (thanks to building work going on across the road...bastards!) with codeine and coffee, and when I looked at this I forgot I even had a head, never mind a headache.
The depth of the picture is amazing. There's no empty space anywhere. I feel like I could dive into this and swim in it.

It could be made to look more like water-weed - I shall look in to it...
Then I'll patent this as a headache cure

It required high quality on the render to get that smoothness! And as for the angle, I was amazed at the difference made by a small shift upwards of one of the disc xforms.

Dang...you got the hues and the pattern spot on.
I agree about the depth--everything looks 3-D. ^^More than usual.

Once the pattern was established, I created a colour palette from an actual forest photo - it did the business
