Description
Not an astrolabe.Process:
The "Cosmolabe" was made of layered brass sheets:
I did the designs for the markings in Illustrator, printed them out reversed and inverted on a transparency from a laser printer, ironed them onto the brass (with judicious use of a sharpie for clean-up) and acid etched them with the circuit board fluid you can get at Radio Shack. Then I cut out the pieces with a jeweler's saw and filed them smooth. The permanently fixed pieces were riveted together using small brass brads.

It was made to be a prop in a movie that's "on hold" right now. I can't sell it until the movie is canceled or is finished.

This is a very great work, it really seems some mysterious watch take from some steam movie mixed with the Lord of the Rings.
I really like its composition, also the colouring treatment, like it would be some king of old gold. The engraving is cool too, also its form. What size is it?

Goddamn, that's incredible! It's gorgeous!
My work is all just on paper, it must be nice to be able to hold and touch something you created Haha, I'd like to carry it around and pull it out and examine it whenever someone asked the time or for directions, just to mess with them.
It reminds me a little of the alethiometer from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series.

Obviously made before Golden Compass movie... (not trying to imply anything)
This looks... I can't discribe it! I can't begin to imagine the effort that went into this! I'm stunned! If I may be so blunt, may I ask what the inscriptions mean?
