Description I made my own board to try it out, and was surprised by how simple it was to learn while at the same time being a lot of fun. Players who sus out the probabilities and have good strategy will win more games in the long run, but it is versatile enough and has a built-in mechanism that encourages come-from-behind wins, so it's still fun for two players of different skill levels.

I definitely recommend the Finkle/British Museum rules. If you're into gambling there are additional rules, but the simplest way is to agree on a stake, and then the loser pays the winner that stake times the number of markers he still has left at the end of the game.

It's pretty clear why the game was popular enough to be played all over the place for almost 5000 years!
