In our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the last Site Update .
What's New
The New deviantART Mobile Site
One of the most common requests from the community has been to update deviantART's mobile site. By popular demand, we've released a brand new version of the mobile site! The site is officially supported in the default browsers for the iPhone and Android phones and tablets.
Instead of developing two separate versions of the site—a desktop version and a mobile version—we've formatted the desktop site to fit into a mobile browser. This allows the mobile site to offer many more features than the previous version did, and it also makes for a more smooth user experience. The end result is a seamless mobile site, and it looks a little like this:
- You can Browse art, check your Message Center, reply to Notes, browse your friends' Profiles and Galleries, visit the Forums, view today's Daily Deviations and do almost everything else you can on the desktop version of the site!
- The drop down menu usually located in the top left corner of the site can be accessed by tapping on the deviantART logo, allowing you to easily access familiar tools without complication.
- You can find wallpapers for your phone using the "Wallpaper" app available in the main menu!
- The Message Center is located in one place, which makes responding to comments and browsing art and Journals a quick, easy experience. Deviants who enjoy viewing their Message Center one section at a time can tap on the arrow next to "Messages" at the top of the Message Center. This will prompt the Message Center's left sidebar to appear and allow selection one section of the Message Center to view at a time.
- Journal Skin designers, if you'd like control how your skin looks in a mobile browser, learn how to use our new mobile media queries .
Prints Integration on Deviation Pages
We've implemented an easier way to purchase art on deviantART! When viewing a deviation that is enabled as a Print, you'll be met with a sleek new menu that is designed to be simple and straightforward.
We've moved the Prints functionality from its own separate page and placed it within the deviation page, to help artists sell more of their work, and to reduce friction for buyers looking to purchase art they love.
Because the functionality of the old Prints pages has been added to the deviation page, you can now preview how your Prints purchase will look without having to leave the deviation page! Once you select a product type, the preview will update to reflect your selection.
The New Submit Art Page (Beta Testers Only)
Beta Testers, we're bringing you a complete revamp of the Submit Art page! While the page you're familiar with has been a long-standing part of deviantART, the new page is designed to be more intuitive, user-friendly, and up to date with deviantART as it is today.
More Improvements to More Like This (Beta Testers Only)
Back in August we launched More Like This to Beta, and after taking in your feedback, we made some improvements , which we're pleased to say were met with positive response! Today, we're bringing you even more improvements, both to More Like This results and your browsing experience!

- The "Show All Groups" link on deviation pages was not working while browsing using the "next" and "previous" buttons. Fixed by shadowhand

- The Stick Menu did not display properly in IE8, and instead displayed blank space. Fixed by shahyarg
- The Daily Deviation page did not display some taller-than-normal portraits correctly when the page first loaded. Fixed by shahyarg
- The oEmbed API did not contain data for the "moderate" setting for Mature Content. Fixed by randomduck

- A bug related to missing thumbs and previews on drawings was identified. Fixed by sgrahamUK
- When changing the main file of an item originally uploaded through an app, the app attribution will now be cleared. Fixed by kouiskas
- Non-Latin characters are now cleanly stripped from uploaded items' titles, as deviation titles still only support latin characters. Fixed by kouiskas
- When going inside a stack, into an item, and then back to the stack, uploading a file inside the stack would put the file in Sta.sh instead of the stack. Fixed by kouiskas
- Thumbnails of literature submitted through Sta.sh Writer appearing in stacks in the Message Center would have misaligned stack corners. Fixed by kemayo
- Menus in Sta.sh Writer have been changed to be a little more responsive; you can now mouse from one to another without having to click. Fixed by kemayo
- Classes are now allowed on span tags, for skinning purposes. Fixed by Alisey
- Efficiency of fetching your Friends List in Sta.sh Writer's sidebar has been improved; less unnecessary data is pulled, and the menu builds faster. Fixed by kemayo and inazar

Thanks very much for the feedback left on last week's update ! Here's some of the feedback you left for us.
- The most common response regarding the friends system was that deviants would like an easy way to separate lists of who they watch from lists of deviants who are their friends. Dramira-Official mentioned that this could also be applied to the Message Center, where new messages from friends could be listed before the general watch section.
- lohkk and Yamitora1 suggested that an easy means of managing and organizing one's friendslist would be helpful, and ShapeShifter314 mentioned that being able to search through one's friends list would be useful as well.
- Some deviants would like stacks within folders in their Message Center. Suggested by Krisoyo
- A search function in Group galleries would be helpful. Suggested by IcyPheonix
- Deviants would like notes sent to Groups to be included in their Sent Notes folder. Suggested by alexpeanut and Magical525
- It would be helpful to be able to add keywords to Groups, so that they can be found more easily when searching in the Groups Portal . Suggested by MartinSilvertant
- Some members would like to apply custom CSS to their Gallery's Featured folder. Suggested by Veroom

It's nice to have a new version of the deviantART mobile version, but I don't own an Android/iPhone ... So, (for the other "mobiles" like PSP, or else, can you do the old one with this ? It worked great before ...)

I do like the new mobile version better now, although I still prefer using the desktop version. On the new mobile, my profile looks weird (but then again my screen is small), and messages are all clumped together (I use the splintered menu), but so far I like it and it's easier to navigate than the older version(s). I'll try it again laters.
The new Buy Prints looks neat. 
New Submit Art Page is not showing for me, although I am a beta-tester. 
I'm not much into More Like This, but yeah, it's cool.

The new mobile updage didin't go pretty well. Since what looks of it that it keeps lagging both of my iphone and android when browsing deviant art. And its just way complicated now T.T Sorry to say this devs. But the update didin't went the way you wanted it to go.

Nope, not really. I have one and still think that the new layout and features are far from being perfect. Before they decided to update the mobile site, it looked maybe more simple, but at least the pages loaded properly. Now it's quite a mess :/

The new mobile system looks great, yet I've been experiencing a few problems. I own a BlackBerry and I can't see my feedback messages, let along answer them. Is this because I don't own an Iphone/Android? Or is this because I might have a problem no one else has (or a select few)? The screen for Blackberries are real small too, and it's a burden trying to read and look at things.

I'm using the mobile site now, it has a lot of options but it is ver slow and often freezes on my phone. I preferred the messages laid out like in the old mobile site. They took nuch less time to load and was more phone friendly than now...

I like the old version back as well, especially for BlackBerries. I don't have an iPhone myself, so this new version of the Mobile Site doesn't really fint for BB's little screen. Everything chunks up and I can't read any of my messages, or broswe the art section. Something similar happens to the desktop version. Have you guys thought of fixing this?

I really like the new mobile site — it's long overdue and you guys obviously put in a lot of hard work on it, and thank you! — but it's kinda glitchy. I've tested the new site in both Android Browser and Dolphin on Android, which supports a lot of stuff that the native Android Browser doesn't, and generally formats things better and runs faster than the native Android Browser does. And while the new site works on both, there are some notable bugs (exhibited in both browsers):
- Both browsers: The Message Center doesn't work at all. You click on the little envelope in the upper-right corner of the screen, and you're greeted with a blank message list.
- Dolphin: When clicking the "More >" button under a deviation, the "More" page that comes up flickers all over the place before eventually settling down to a semi-normal layout, scrolled most of the way to the bottom. Android Browser still flickers, but flickers less, and doesn't scroll to the bottom.
- Dolphin: On that "More" page, the "Share" dropdown is always displayed, and covers up other buttons on the page.
- Both browsers: That "Share" dropdown is positioned halfway off the screen no matter which browser I use (halfway off on the left side on Android Browser, and halfway off the right side on Dolphin), so half the buttons on it aren't usable anyway.
- Both browsers: The "X" button on the "More" page overlaps the "Add to Favorites" button, so it's almost impossible to click the dropdown arrow on the "Add to Favorites" button.
- Both browsers: Even if the "X" button didn't overlap, that dropdown arrow is pretty tiny on a phone, even for my small fingers. I'd rather add to collections than add to favorites, and often I end up adding to favorites simply because I can't touch that tiny spot.
- Both browsers: That "X" close button has some noticeable aliasing errors on it and the X is aligned strangely in the circle, a pretty surprising defect to see on an art site
.
- Both browsers: If you tap a deviation to enlarge it, it goes partially offscreen, which would be okay if it weren't for the fact that you can't scroll horizontally to see the rest of it. I'd suggest on this one just linking directly to the full image like you did before, which lets the user use the browser's native pinch-to-zoom and drag-to-scroll functionality to see the rest of it in a far more natural way.
- Both browsers: The "Popular" dropdown on the "Browse" page — the dropdown for choosing the date-range of deviations to view — doesn't seem to work at all on Dolphin, and is very glitchy on Android Browser after you've performed a search.
- Android Browser: The "Show 60" dropdown is moved down about an inch to overlap the content on Android Browser.
That's what I've found so far. It may seem like a long list, but it really isn't, and most of those are minor glitches; there's a huge amount of functionality in the new site, and it's really nice to be able to use deviantART for real on a phone. If you guys get the glitches fixed, I'll never think about the old mobile site again

Ok... an honest opinion here about the latest Mobile version.

KILL IT! WITH FIRE! BE GONE WITH IT! It's shit beyond shit! and I'll tell you why:
1: I'm an iPhone user, and a female, but even with my small fingertips on a relatively large iPhone screen I CANNOT CLICK THE DAMNED BUTTONS! They are too small.
2: When I load my message page I get whole bunch of Dev, Journal, Critics stacks BEFORE MY PERSONAL messages? Sesiously? WHY I have to scroll though all that??? Just to read MY MESSAGES.
Please! Bring the OLD ONE BACK!

The dA mobile site looks great! I'm surprised that the formatting fits so well! It's beautiful. One day I'll explore it properly, but for now, I definitely do like how it looks. Much better than the previous one! (Now you guys just need an app!)
Bugs:
- I haven't experienced any bugs on the site, except for the other day, but it seemed to have been fixed. I was in Sta.sh and went to go submit a deviation and it told me to select "Mature Content" for some reason. After I left Sta.sh and came back, it stopped doing that though. I'm not sure if that was a one-off thing or something else.
Suggestions:
Manage Deviations:
- The "Manage Deviations" page should really allow for mass deletion. I do like the "Store" feature (even though most of the people I know do not, especially since it leaves an ugly message behind saying that the deviation is in storage), but I feel like a mass deletion option would be more helpful.
For instance, if you had 10 drawings you wanted to delete, you could select all ten, go into more action options, and delete them.
The feature would be extremely useful!
I always go in expecting there to be a "Delete" option, but I never see it!
Unless there is a mass delete option for selected deviations somewhere and I just never knew about it.
Profile Page Layouts:
- It would be awesome to have the option to display all the gallery folders (the same as Groups) on one's profile page, rather than just showcasing one folder.
Many of us have multiple folders in our gallery. It would be nice to actually allow them on display all at the same time, rather than showcasing just one folder, on the profile page.
I'm not saying to get rid of the one-showcase folder, but to have the display of all folders available. (If it can be done for groups, why not individuals too?)
Gallery:
- Some sort of option where when people enter my gallery, they go to "Browse", not the "Featured" folder. I don't have anything in my featured folder; I'm sure a lot do, but I've also come across a lot who don't. I know you can just click "Browse" when you go in, but it would be nice if when they decide to see my new deviations or click "Gallery", they're brought to "Browse" instead of "Featured". If that makes sense.
Sta.sh:
- I'm still hoping I wake up one day and see Sta.sh have a queue options. I don't see that coming anytime soon, however, if ever.

I love the mobile site A LOT more. It's easy to navigate and you can see all the things on your page (comments, custom boxes etc).

I would like to be able to apply the same tags, description, etc to multiple deviations at the same time. When I upload stock I often find myself reentering the same info a dozen or more times.

The update sucks. No offense, but the older mobile site just needed to be tweaked and it would have been fine, the reason I always had my phone set to mobile site was BECAUSE it was so different to the desktop version. It loaded quicker, wasn't smooshed up and didn't eat up as much of my memory as this one does.
However, I do like the fact that you have access to pretty well everything from the desktop site, and that there are more thumbnails per page. But yeah, the size of the thumbnails are kinda annoying.
