Just to show you guys that I am capable of poking a little fun at Man of Steel, I made this. All the other memes based on this were about the invalid criticisms that I have already discussed. I felt that this was a much better argument.
In Superman's defense, Wonder Woman's movie is just as hard as an Ant-Man movie where Hank Pym doesn't live in a retirement home.
Superman owned by DC. Avengers owned by Marvel (happy 75th birthday!)

Here's the thing: WW's costume is a massive problem. Not only is it sexist, but it just looks like shit.
so what do they do? They can't change it or the core fan base will be enraged, and they can't just do nothing because the costume is ridiculous.

How is WW's costume anymore sexist then superman's? They both expose a whole lost (superman's does more so since it's so form fitting). That's a stupid argument.

Compared to just how revealing any male superhero costume is? Seriously, you have to be looking at it in a very specific light to say her costume is sexist.

Where are you getting this idea that male super hero costume's are revealing? they aren't, the exposure of skin takes precedent over how form fitting the outfit is when it comes to defining how revealing an outfit is.

No it doesn't. The skin tight spandex is just (if not more) revealing as the leotard. At least the leotard leaves SOMETHING to the imagination.

its the difference between being exposed and not being exposed...as long as the clothes aren't see through. WW's costume was clearly designed as fanservice and looks ridiculous because of that. Imagine Superman fighting crime in a thong and wife beater. that's what WW's costume is and it shows gender inequality

rakaru In reply to DigitalInked [2014-05-06 17:41:53 +0000 UTC]
That would be a good argument... if Superman's costume didn't put every inch of his body on display. It's not about showing skin and not showing skin, its about how much of the person underneath is visible, as far as that goes they are both clearly exposed. Hell, the movie Kick Ass 2 even makes fun of these by saying that one of the hero's suit is so tight he has frog eye (his suit was exposing the outline of his crotch.)
Wonder Woman's suit may show more skin, but she is not at all more exposed than Superman, Batman, or the Flash (all of which have skin tight costumes).

There are plenty of designs they can use for wonder woman as one of her new designs include pants. And the rule of "no changing the original" doesn't hold. Batman's outfit went from a ninja spandex, to very stiff armor. Spider-Man was modernized (thank goodness they changed that back) and Captain America had a complete remake of his outfit, making him suitable for combat. As far as I know, these changes were not bad enough to make fans rage. (Even though people did speak up about some of them).

her costume isn`t the only problem, it all around very sensitive because she`s basically the only important female. I know there are other`s but no one gives two damns about Hawk girl

As I stated, there are other more modest forms of her outfit that could be used.
I thought the issue stated was her costume her, but if we're going deeper than that, she is indeed the icon when it comes to female superheroes, (and part of the DC trinity) but I can't see that stopping creators. They're going to introduce her anyway in Superman and Justice League, so they're going to have to go through all these issues anyway.
.
Not to mention, WW already has multiple movies, we just need a modern version.

My biggest questions:
1 How are they going to do the Amazons? (Just how "alien" will the city/country of Themyscira be?)
2 Will/should we see an "update" to WW's powers? And in reference to the previous question, 2.1 What will be the origins of said powers? (In a universe where Superman can be shot in the head and survive, it will be increasingly irrelevant to have WW's only defense as bracelets that can block anything)
3 Who is the WW "big bad"?
My apologies to the owner for posting these questions if these are the "criticisms" that you have/had previously discussed. I was not present for those discussions and am, still, genuinely interested.
Essentially, I just cannot see the Amazons as anything other than DC's version of the Asgardians, and I (sadly) see that doing so, will be a little too repetitive for the wider audience to accept lightly- despite it being a very solid idea.
I would love to see some re-imagining of the Atlantian history to feature the Hunters/Gatherers and Themyscira as a key city of that civilization; whose occupants were sent, en masse, to the phantom-zone (or however it was that they were frozen in MoS) to protect them from some terrible situation that was to become Earth/Milky Way. In destroying the outpost (the Kryptonian ship) on Earth, Kal-El had inadvertently released those occupants from stasis, at some location, somewhere in our galaxy.
This sort of re-work would allow DC to include Aquaman and a whole number of heroes and heroines to come to play. Hopefully something to do with the Meta-human gene that was spliced by the white-martians, thus allowing a Justice League film.
The crux of all this, is that I invented this idea in 15 minutes after viewing this deviation and wiki'pediaing the information I didn't know off the bat.
The stuff that WILL NOT play well with viewers, is what is heavily used in WW- ie MAGIC and DEITIES.
The annoying thing about DC, is that they are typically so stuffed into their faultily made universe history, that there is no familiarity. And so the stories feel terribly disjointed when you attempt them with realism.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all superhero flicks- but I don't LIKE all of them- and for me, it always comes down to how well fleshed out the story (and "mythos") was>the acting>the special effects>etc.
Sorry for the rant- & Thanks for sharing

Sorry this took so long.
1) I'm not sure if the whole "gods are really aliens" thing works as well for Wonder Woman as it does for Thor. But then, back in the Golden Age they had alien kangaroos and purple healing rays on the island (swear to god I'm not making that up)
2) Well, that's kinda how I see Wonder Woman: she doesn't have as much raw power as Superman, but she more than makes up for it by being a trained warrior who could still kick your ass without her powers.
3) The title of WW's nemesis is a 3-way tie between Ares, Circe, and (my personal favorite) the Cheetah. Cheetah's not much of a mastermind, but she could work for one of the other 2.
That is a pretty cool idea though.

1. The Amazons are just like DC's version of the Asgardians, like you said. Now look at Asgard in the movies, they could make Themyscira in a movie as well, just a little more Game of Thrones like.
The two other questions: I am not that fan of DC comics and I don't really know WW story so I couldn't tell you, but all of the latest superheroes movies seem to explain more the origin of the character and well that depends on the crew who writes the script :/ but i see that you already have an idea of what could be written.
Let's just hope that, if they ever make a WW movie, they make it good.

I hate all the DC hate though. Look at Cap's costume it is hilarious, yet it still plays in a good movie.
I think you need to get up to date with WW's powers and how the comic has been for the past 8 to 10 years.

Apologies from one reader to another- but you know as well as I do, how easy it is to slip out of attention with a character-comic that hasn't interested you in almost 20 years. Now I understand that DC has undergone a soft-reboot for the "New 52" publication era we have come into in 2011. Unfortunately for writers, I don't buy or read comics anymore. T-shirts and movie DVDs, yes, comic books, no. That is what happens when you get invested in a story-line and then it gets ret-conned.
Please do not mistake (what I believe to be) legitimate queries for DC hate, though, as it is unfair to mention that silliness, when I am certainly not touting violent words incoherently, in short deep-breath patterns like some perverse Youtube video comment section.
So, again:
I am not interested in the New 52. I am interested in the upcoming film/S. Which are the subject of the deviation and my comment.
The deviation -while being humorous in its intent- is poking fun at the FACT that the rest of the world (that doesn't read comics, & have little-to-no idea what to expect) last saw WW in syndication of its 1970's television show.
I am, however, expecting another Retcon, like the Man of Steel- which was AWESOME, in my opinion. Hence why I am uninterested in the New 52, the last 10 years of WW, and a comment that fails to observe the only rhetoric aspect of my questions, and dallies about the bush essentially saying that somewhere in the last 10 years they fleshed my answers out in the comics. If I can spend another hour on Wikipedia -having already read that information- I will be in the exact same place still waiting for the answers to the first comment I made on the deviation. In future, I would ask that you hold off on typing a response, if you are not going to actually answer the questions asked.
I wonder if this is part of the reason why WW hasn't had a movie before now. I am genuinely tired having typed and edited all this so many times, because your comment is completely non-committal. I don't even care anymore. WW wasn't interesting before, and the fans don't give a shit about telling us why she is so great. Now I feel like an asshat, and this is the f***ing internet.
Apologies to the creator of the deviation if any of this is in bad taste. Please feel free to nuke my comments.

The new 52 is one thing, but WW has been rebooted for quite a while. She can fly on her own, has strength that is on par with all of the big hitters. Has magical weapons. She is pretty sweet. Her powers were derived from the gods. She is somewhat of a chosen one type. On par with Thor.
I didn't mean you had hate for DC I just meant in general I dislike how much people are hating on it. It is a rich universe.
Comic fans should be the ones to decide how things go. Look at the movies that do the best, they follow the comic closely at least in spirit if not in actual cannon. I just am hoping that other DC properties will be received better than MoS was. Which is funny in itself, it made almost 700 million as a first movie in a new franchise. Still, everyone acts like it bombed. People need to get off Marvel's balls for a moment and see that the world is big enough for both DC and Marvel to shine.
As far as other questions: Aries would be the perfect bad guy for her. Themyscira was done beautifully in the Batman/Superman comic (pre-New 52).
Hope this helps you some.
