Challenging the Blizzard

- Rod is dressed in his poncho (winter gear)
- Rod is using his luxray's extraordinary vision to his advantage in the search for a beacon. (Luxray are predatory pokemon, they are capable of finding their prey hiding in the shadows. More info about their vision here. )
- Rod is using his infernape to illuminate the path for him as well as melting through the deeper snow using Flare Blitz.

Found a Beacon

- Rod's luxray pointed the way to a nearby beacon using his extraordinary vision.
- As the snow got noticeably deeper, Rod's infernape blazed a trench through the deep snow as luxray pointed the way.
- Rod's infernape has taken a great amount of recoil damage from her constant use of flare blitz to path through the snow.
- A faint blinking red light is seen from beneath the frozen snow, as luxray stands ordered to stand in front and protect himself and the beacon while infernape makes one final flare blitz to melt and blow the end of the trench into a frozen crater.
- Because of luxray's predatory instinct, Rod has become reluctant to declare victory and claim his prize. He figures it all seemed a little too easy, as no other trainers or wild pokémon were ecountered on their way to the beacon.

- Rod begins trying to pull the beacon from the frozen snow but the pole snaps in his attempts.
- Just has he reaches to pick up the broken beacon, a little girl with an ampharos and a lucario make their entrance.

Retaliation

- The little girl confirms Rod's assumptions of competing in the Battle Frontier as well and Identifies herself as Nadia.
- After considering his options whilst stalling Nadia with idle conversation, he finds that his only way out of the snowy crater is through where she and her pokemon are standing.
- As Rod reaches for his Espeon's pokeball to make his getaway using flash, Rod realizes he left it back at the dome along with his Scizor to keep his girlfriend from following him into the blizzard.
- Preparing himself for a battle already at his grave disadvantage as he orders his pokemon to step back with him at the opposite end of the snowy crater farthest from the trench nadia is blocking
-He suddenly realizes there may be one more alternative, but he'll only have one shot to get it right.

- After failing to knock his uninvited opponent down by throwing his poncho at her, Rod and Nadia engage in a pokemon battle for the beacon
- Despite fatigue, Rod's Infernape insists in fighting for him but is soon defeated by Nadia's Lucario.
- Rod's Luxray steps into the battlefield and defeat's Nadia's Lucario without problems.
- The battle continues as Luxray's savage blood proves to make him a formidable opponent against Nadia's ampharos
- Luxray is capable of defeating Ampharos with little effort using crunch, though it becomes paralyzed it quickly recovers with the lum berry hidden it his mane.
- Hours pass, as Luxray continues his onslaught as he fought Noctowl, Belossom and Teddiursa with ferocity and without remorse until dawn.
