Let's see, its 2001 TV series, 1981 movie (Super Galaxy), 1979 TV series, 1960's animation (movie & TV), and manga. Yes, in the 1981 movie, Joe NEVER accelerated. ONCE. D:<

Yes, 2001 is my main version of Cyborg 009. It's where I've become a fan. Though I have watched the others now too and enjoy them as well!

hee hee! oh yes they do! I mean, I think that attitude is an aspect of Joe, though looking at the anime made around 2001, it makes sense the portrayal of the characters. Though they are still true to their original, which is all I'm looking for.

True... I love things like Cyborg 009 that have multiple 'versions,' so to speak. In each media you see different aspects of the same character, and when you put them together you achieve a greater understanding of said character. 2001 added to that by delving deeper into how the cyborgs worked emotionally, in my opinion.

Yes, it's a treat to see people expanding on a character. We recently got some rough translations of aspects of the new movie coming out of Japan. I'm interested to see what they do to Joe, they describe him as a student, but no mention of delinquency...

Yeah, I think the kid 007 can work for the character, but the middle-aged bald man works SO MUCH BETTER!
Yeah, I have scripts for 001, 004, 005, 007! I want 006's to be about the variations of the character's past, but I don't have a script/punchline yet. I have no idea what to do for 003 and 008. I'm... a little scared of doing a proper one for 008, because of his earlier character design. >.<

Yes, different pasts. From what I gather, the manga was about to commit suicide, the 1979 anime he was on a failing farm, but didn't try to hang himself, and in the 2001 anime... it was funny, but just a mockery of what Chang's original past was

Anyway, 2001, it only lasts about 1 minute. You see Chang as a successful businessman, with a hotel, farm, and restaurant. He is doing fire tricks to entertain a crowd, and burns the hotel down! Then the farm fails, and something goes wrong with the hotel. He faints, and black ghosts agents cart him off...

D< Course, I should've expected it, the 2001 anime tweaked most everyone's past to make them more like 'victims' They left Al's and GB's the same at least. Well, they tweaked Franny's too, but that one didn't matter. XD

Franny's story changed to she was accepted at the Paris ballet academy, or some type of advancement in her position. When she hopped into the black car to go to this new school, the Black Ghost agents knocked her out.
And no comedy sequence of Jean-Paul coming after her either. But I don't think that would've worked as well in the anime anyway XD

I saw the 2001 anime before I read the manga, so I liked the anime past. I... don't mind him having a priest/father figure in his past, but, WHY IS HE NOT A DELINQUENT ANYMORE!!! That tough street attitude is what made Joe JOE! D:>
