Description
This's an aircraft design I did lately,just to get into Painter 8 and concept art in general.

This is very good. I know how hard it is to make good motion in photoshop and you pull it of including with aircrafts as well, it's just wow.

Incredible detail, man! This is a really beautiful pic. The motion blur really gives a sense of speed as they zoom past the land. I think that's a city below? Small details like that add to the attractiveness of the picture. The planes also do a great job of showing the sunlight reflected from them.

i've always wanted to see space-fighters fight in atmosphere and this looks cool - it could lok cooler in rain

The wing designs, you can feel by looking that these need a great deal of velocity for lift, but that's a good feeling.

I like the simple, shiny look to these fighters, very old school illustration and so on. Simplicity looks wonderful, they shine great, and the blur effect on the ground (including the great jet streams) look VERY realistic.

The design of the ships themselves looks a little...funny...but I guess that's the point of sci-fi art, to be imaginative

I like the sence of speed and the backdrop is masterfully done. However, & no effence intended but seeing as you did say critiquing was welcome so... the vertical stabilizer seem to be way too small & that with such extreme angles on the wings is just inviting instability & disaster. The vertical stabilizer should be about twice as large; the horizontal stabilizers seem to be about the right size and have a good "overhead" angle, but should have less of a down angle by at least 10 degrees; & the main wings should only have about 15 degrees of up angle to them tops, and unless you want to have to take off at mock speeds, they also would need to be swing-wings, to provide better lift during take-off & landing, and swing back for mock speeds, as the craft seem to be at here.
Overall, however, I'd say you did an astounding job on this, the coloration & feel are just amazing.

That would be the biggest problem to get at, for shure. But even for it to fly and do more than tumble like a leaf below mock, it would really need a bit of tweaking. But most of the problems could be solved rather easily by just adding swing-wings. And you are right about it being agile... so much so, in fact, I bet it would have to be unmanned. But I wonder if we even have any computers powerfull enough to control something like that yet...

I wonder what would happen if you ran it past X-Plane... I bet I could make it fly.
Unstable certianly, but with a good control interface and all it could prove agile at extreme speeds. You'd really have to take it for a spin in something like X-plane to find out.
I think the real issue would be getting it off the ground...
