“Nice and easy today, little miss.” Allannah led Puff out to the smaller general arena, lunge rope and whip in hand. The straightforward little mare followed along without much encouragement. Her short time in WSE had been uneventful so far, and Allannah was almost bored by her arrival. Maybe she just expected fireworks from every horse she touched or assumed her bosses only wanted to assign her the ‘crazy’ or ‘spirited’ ones.
At the end of the day, another horse to train just thickened her paycheck, so there was no point in openly complaining.
It took her a few tries to get the hang of moving away from Alannah and her wiggly stick, but she caught on quickly without much correction. Her walk was nothing special, relatively relaxed and with little sense of purpose. Adding some pressure, Allannah got her into a trot, which got her some head tosses and a few breaks in gait to a walk or canter. Minimal spice.
Before overwhelming the little mare, Allannah focused on just getting her moving, and Puff did her best to keep up.
