Description «Fëanor, where are you taking me?» Nerdanel laughed under her breath, as they rushed through the passages of the city, between the buildings, under the arches of the main roads, always taking the narrowest path to make sure they were not seen. The golden light of Laurelin waned over the roofs of Tirion as the young elves ran silently along.
Fëanor stopped abruptly behind the corner of the last main road, and held her tight against him, as they waited for a couple of guards to pass them by unnoticed. His smile was excited and mysterious as always, and it made her heart race in her chest.
«It is not long now. Follow me,» he whispered in her ear and it sent tingles down her neck. His voice deep, melodious and his breath warm against her skin. His firm hand grasped hers as they ran on, over the wide, brick road and past the last row of houses before they entered the forest.
«What is this place?» Nerdanel awed as they passed the first few trees and stood suddenly in the clearing of a temple. All about them stood columns and worn shrines in a small circle.
«It is the first temple of the Valar, the first temple created in honour of them, before we even knew much about them, save them having taken us to this wondrous land,» Fëanor caressed one of the columns as he spoke, but then his eyes turned to hers again, and he took her hand. «But I wanted to show you this,» he laughed as he dragged her after him and they turned the corner to find a big, open fountain and pool, leaning against one of the walls. It was overgrown with branches and vegetation, but the fountain still spewed water from the hands of the statue of Ulmo, standing on a stair of waterfall.
Nerdanel stood enchanted for a moment, gazing upon the marvellous place, then she laughed and walked towards the fountain. «It is beautiful, Fëanor,» she leaned over the edge and caressed the water with her fingertips.
«It is forgotten, after the construction of the city and the grand temples. No one comes here anymore, and yet I find a strange serenity here, standing in the presence of the Valar as perceived by my father and his kin when they first settled here.» He exhaled, as if breathing this air would rid him of his worries of the world. «Father said that mother would come here ere my birth, that she never found peace in the new temples. I understand now. This is an honest place.»
«Then I am honoured to be allowed to witness it with you,» Nerdanel spoke softly and took his hand. Fëanor’s thoughtful expression broke in a smile that lit up his face, before a mischievous grin took its place.
Without forewarning he gave her a soft push so that she fell backwards into the fountain with a scream that made birds take flight from the neighbouring trees. Fëanor laughed loudly, leaning on the edge of the pool to keep his balance.
Nerdanel stood up quickly, gasping and heaving for breath, her raiment and hair drenched through. When she saw Fëanor standing there laughing, she pouted, grasped his shirt and dragged him into the pool as well. As he stood up, his shirt ripped and his hair hanging down his face with water, he couldn't but continue laughing, and they spent a minute playing and wrestling in the water, until they both were spent.
They stood breathing exhausted, both holding their gazes locked. Fëanor had his old, kind smile lighting his face, for he had no more will nor power to be mischievous in the presence of such a beautiful creature.
He raised a hand to remove some of her hair hanging over her face, and she laid her hand on his wrist as he did so. The sensation of their skin touching was magical, sending warm sparks down their spines. Carefully Nerdanel let her other hand touch his, and their fingers interlaced as perfectly as if they were created to belong together.
They were both young, she more so than him, and this was their first moment alone together.
It was perhaps the rising of the light of Telperion and enchanting hour of the trees’ interlaced light that spurred their own hearts, and it was then that Fëanor leaned down and the young elves shared a kiss for the very first time. The kiss that would seal their fates forever. This got a little longer than expected, but I just had to write a little piece to accomodate this drawing, so that you would understand what was going on and everything!^^ (also let me know if you want me to write more on this.. I would not be against it, even if my schedule is limited these days!^^')

That being said, this has definitly been one of my most fun, hard, exhausting, irritating, and educational drawings I've done in a while. And just because I had a "spontanious" idea.. Oh well, I cant say anything else than that I'm extremely happy with this. It couldnt have been any better, especially since I suck at background, and this time I spent more time ont the background than the actual characters.. Imagine that! I know its not perfect, perspectively, anatomically or anything, but I hope you like it! (and again I apologize for crappy quiality.. thats how it is when you live at a dorm....) And yes these are very young Fëanor and Nerdanel, before they even got together as you might have understood from the little fic

Thats one of my major projects finished... two to go! (and of course Ill start new big drawings now that this one's finished... Im such a masochist!)

Did she actually leave him? I can't remember tbh, I think I just assumed he left her behind when going to middle Earth! 🙈 But I'm very glad you like it! Thank you!😊

Well, he left her because she sort of refused to be involved into some oath-thing that Feanor created between him and his sons.... Maybe it's because she didn't wanted to get involved into dangerous stuff such as Feanor making bad decisions, as usual along with his desire for vengeance and his desire for retrieving the Silmarils o.O
and also.... Your welcome

What a fountain! Your mind is mighty. The crack to the right of the waterfall coincidentally looks like a colibri or other small fragile noble bird. Gives the scenery even more fairytale feeling. (You remember the typical fairytale pictures with the animals in harmony with a couple, something I dream about often and which makes me so fond of Beorn, oh what a wonderful world this could be.)
The two look as if they just calmed and well the situation feels like perfection, which is so easy to disrupt. It is like in the world, for harmony all has to work out - if only one piece fails, perfection is lost -- just as your signature says.

Thanks for your sophisticated and detailed works.

Thank you! Though I would not say my mind is so mighty, more so the reference I used to draw this But I nevertheless cherish your compliments and wonderful words that leaves me close to speechless, you must know that.
I read for a research paper once that Tolkiens elves, and most of all Galadriel, were created as inspired by mythical folklore of elves, from england, ireland and the nordic countries, that Galadriel was somewhat of a all-knowing fairy-godmother kind of character, and it fits well with the fairytale theme indeed that these two should fall in love by a magical place and fountain. You are very observant, and your appreciation of my details makes it all the more worth it! ^^ Thank you again so much!

So Galadriel was inspired by mythical folklore, wow. I wish there were such magical places. I wish we'd do more to create epicness.

Your well fairy scene of Galadriel made me plan an epic galant well in the middle of the garden of the second worlddevelopment base. Usually I put these elements into corners, well, to get rid of the corners. If You know how to pour bronze statues, then I'd be your student. I plan a flower as base of the well if I can figure how to color concrete, and I thought of recreating your painting in bronze but that's impossible. You are my master. <3

This is a very beautiful scene. Also the little story accompanies the picture well.
I really like the fact that this is one of the few pictures where he is not pictured as a "Feanaro" but more like a Curufinwe; not the wild and raging fire spirit that endangers to burn even loved ones around him - but the softer side, just the skilled son of his modest father.
The calm mood of the place is transmitted to the viewer, though the couple produces some sparks for sure.
Their closeness and mutual glance at each other is a real attraction in the picture. She seems to be expectant to me, eagerly waiting for a kiss, curiously asking for what will be coming.
For him I am uncertain if his expression is to read as being sunken in her eyes and receiving her nearly vivid aura; or if it is a knowing, planning look. Or something inbetween.

You wonder what could have been. But then it all ended so tragically.

The vines on the walls remind me a little bit of an old DooM 1 texture, hehe. (Maybe that's a strange association but I guess that old game influenced me too much. )

I am so very happy to hear that you think so! :3 It was very fun to do this drawing, and the fanfiction was interesting, to explore Fëanor's young mind a bit!^^ I am very fascinated by him!
Thank you so much for the thorough analysis, and your feedback! It means a lot to me, and I hope I can continue to engage you with future artwork! ^^

I have never played DooM (Not gonna lie, I dont even know what it is) so it must be completely coincidental!^^ But vines on a brick wall is pretty normal as an old texture I guess!

Spontaneous ideas are the best ones! However, I think you shouldn’t be drawing if you think it’s masochist to do

Yeah it definitely is!! It always works better to not try and force an idea!
Hahah and yeah Im a bit melodramatic when I finish my pieces, I hope you dont think badly of me! Its just with everything thats going on I feel so bad for not focusing more on my art and making it hard for myself! ^^' But I still definitely cant not do art!

I'm not thinking bad of you, I'm merely worried . But as long as you have fun, I doubt drawing will harm you.

IngvildSchageArt In reply to Toradh [2015-11-09 00:17:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh i wouldnt want to worry you, Im sorry! Im just weird, as drawing is as big a part of my life as breathing and I have no choice to do it or not, and so sometimes it can be hard, but equally fantastic and necessary for me to live a happy life! ^^ Thats why its hard now, with so much school work I feel the need and yet guilty that i draw instead of doing homework!
