Description "Tell me Sarah, how are you enjoying my Labyrinth?"

My cosplay of Jareth the Goblin King from the 1986 movie Labyrinth starring David Bowie. And yes, this is me. My true identity is revealed! I just worked too hard on this not to put it on DeviantArt. Labyrinth has been my latest obsession, and now that I'm on spring break, I've had a chance to finish my costume. I Jareth!

I don't cosplay unless I really love a character. I have just been LOVING the Labyrinth culture and fanbase. It's a great escape from school (or not so great, depending on how it affects my studies...). I made the necklace myself out of polymer clay and acrylics. Most of the clothing I found at thrift stores, and the wig I bought online. Let me know what you think!

This is amazing
And it's so cool that you actually made the necklace yourself?! I made one it would totally fail, so my friends getting me one for my birthday ^-^
I'd love the chance to cosplay as Jareth but I haven't had a chance yet, However i have done Ziggy xD
I have only seen one other cosplay as good as yours, but I can't decide which is better xD

Thank you so much!! Yes, I made the necklace by myself from a block of clay. I was rather satisfied with how it turned out myself, especially having never worked with the material. Perhaps I should start an Etsy shop?

And I would LOVE to do other versions of Bowie, but I just don't have the right build for it. I am planning to style my hair like "Low" Bowie, but we'll see where that goes.

Zomg you should it'd be so popluar!

Have you heard of the "Ball of Jareth"? I came across it by mistake when looking for 'Jareth' wigs as my hair is too short to style. Its this massive maskquarade party thats held every year for two days in july celebrating 'Labyrinth's awesomeness and other shizzle xD

Ziggy is the easiet cosplay for me and I know a somewhere(over the rainbow)that sells bright red/orangey hair dye

I also showed my anime, and now Jareth/Bowie, obssesed friend your cosplay and she agree's it rocks ^-^ (She also says you have a cool house, buut that sounds slightly creeper-y)

Maybe when I return to America I'll make some more and put them up for sale. And my hair is in reality very short, so I used a wig as well. The Labyrinth of Jareth? In fact, going to that masquerade ball is on my bucket list! One of these years I'll make it down to LA.

And thank you very much!

So you have heard of it? ^O^

I got a lil' too excited when i saw the site .-.

Bucket List? - is it a *DyingVerySoonOfSomeHeartbreakingDisease* or a *JustForFun* one ? ?

friend says : Your welcome, and to make it look more like Jareth's pad, just add glitter ^-^

I myself have been wanting a Jareth Costume for Haloween, and expo use, perhaps you could help me out? I know how to get the wig online, and my Aunt knows how to make poet shirts, the only real trouble I'm having with gathering pieces is that I'm not sure where to get Jareth-like boots, and I'm not sure what kind of pants he wears. Someone tole me they were horse riding pants, and others have told me tights, and I'm not sure who to believe. Think you could help?

And by the way, this is one of the best Jareth cosplays I've ever seen. Only one person beats you, because he had a more Bowie-ish face.

Thank you so much for your compliment! It really means a lot to me. I think I know which cosplayer you're talking about, and you're right, I know that I will never come CLOSE to that epicness.

The shirt, vest, and boots I bought from thrift stores around town (which took a lot of hunting to track everything down). I got lucky with the boots; I found them for about $8 at Salvation Army. I found things and kind of made them work for the costume, since I can't sew and wasn't about to spend hundreds of dollars on clothing. You'd be surprised what you can find in thrift stores, especially for an '80s costume like Jareth. You're lucky you know someone who can make poet shirts!

I actually bought grey leggings from Target. They're not tights, and not full-fledged pants either. I believe that technically his pants are supposed to be riding pants, but as you can see in the film, they are much to thin to be considered such (in my opinion). Also, riding pants are expensive and probably would not give the desired effect (unless you're going for a more realistic Jareth than the one in the film). As long as you get something that looks like what he wears, it doesn't really matter. The necklace I made myself out of clay, which took a bit more time, effort, and artistic expenditure on my part. Hope this helps!

Ha, you do come close, it's just he had a very Bowie face. I swear, that chin with those cheekbones, I thought maybe He was Bowie!

Ah, I know how much of a pain finding something at thrift stores are. I like dressing up in suits, but I don't have a job, so I go to them whenever I can to find something fancy to wear. If I find something in my size, I hate it, and if I find something I like, it's four times bigger than me. And yes, I am lucky, a good poet shirt costs an arm and a leg, when it takes three dollars worth of material to make one!

I'll have to look there. I noticed that riding pants looked similar, but as you said, they also looked too thin, and they didn't look thin enough to be tights. And yes, thank you, it helped a lot!

I really, really love it. You're very good at this cosplay stuff, and, well, man. I can't believe you found exactly the perfect costume bits at a thrift store!

I'm loving those boots, by the way. Jareth had some sexy boots.

Thank you so much!! I don't cosplay a lot, but when I do, I go all out and really do my best to represent the character. And I didn't find the pieces of the costume all at one thrift store. It took me a couple of months and a lot of bargain hunting to complete the costume. Even as it is, I think I could do more with it and improve upon what I've done. Thank you for your comments and the s!

It's not a problem - I love to recognize when people do good work. You really seem to get in the mood when you're in costume, and I'd love to see more cosplay photos from you if you've got 'em. I admire people who really get into characters.

It sounds like it was really tough to find all that costume stuff, and I really admire your dedication to actually stick with it for so long!

I don't normally comment on cosplay. They are normally half-assed, horrible constructed costumes for anime characters with impossible proportions. The ones getting photographed often don't really fit the personality of the character. Rei Ayanami should not be smiling as a common example.

This on the other hand...is fantastic. I dig it. You really pulled it off, and so kudos to you, and kudos for picking a damn awesome character to cosplay.

Wow, thank you so much! This really means a lot to me. I worked hard to represent the character, as Jareth is one of my favorites. I would never want to misrepresent the epicness that is David Bowie!
