Description
Made for the monthly contest at . The theme was SAPIENTHumans eventually colonize every nook and cranny of the Earth, but even they cant control it forever. Eventually, like all civilizations before, the human race lose their foothold on their civilization and society gradually collapsed into chaos. We reverted back to medieval ways, and given a few thousand years, without any innovations to show for, the human race reverted to wild animals. The earth swallowed up our cities in the land, our cities in the sea sank and eroded, and our cities in the skies wilted into the ground below. Eventually, sapience was completely lost from our brains. Although given enough time, possibly hundreds of millions of years or more, maybe we could re-develop it. Hopefully whatever form we have taken in that time is equipped to handle the dangerous and potent power that is intelligence. Maybe they'll be curious and want to explore the cosmos with it, or maybe they'll use it to develop weapons and war with each other. Whatever these beings use it for, hopefully they find solace in it.
