Description
PART ONE: Mount
Finally, after many hundreds of years, the revolution has come.
These cybernetic parasites, which we have called Muters, have long used us as a form of transport, burying their metallic claws into our ribs and rearranging our skeletons, controlling our limbs by prodding and searing our brains. After a few hours of use, the Muters would leave our crippled and twitching bodies to rot on the cold and endless sands of their nightmarish and desolate world. Unknown to us at the time, this desert world was once ours, and not only that, but it was fertile and covered in plants, animals, and oceans. What happened?
The factories that produced us did so by chugging dozens of chemicals into concoctions that would grow us inside of tubes, and then ship us by the hundreds of thousands to nearby cities, where we would be opened, used, and thrown away like plastic water bottles. Every now and then in our growth process, mutations would happen: rarely we were born with eyes, mouths, esophagi, or maybe even the ability to think, one that our ancestors once wielded with unfathomable power. One of us got lucky, one that would go down in history. We call him Eye, and he was born with this ability to think, along with eyes and a functional digestive system. This part of history is a bit vague and undocumented, but legends go that Eye escaped the culling plant (where the defects went) and formed a small clan of revolutionaries with some others of us. Eventually this clan grew to a settlement, broiling to the brim with revolutionary ideals. However, each of them knowing that they were too few to make a difference, they patiently waited. Decades passed, and the settlement grew to a small empire. Eye passed away, but his ideas and prophecies of a revolution to take back the cities and the planet were still firmly rooted into the minds of each citizens of this empire.
The empire stayed unnoticed, mostly due to the Muters only paying attention to what went on inside of their own cities. Soon, though, those several hundred of us that weren't incapacitated enough to be part of the revolution would make themselves noticed. About seven years later, Eye's disciples led an invasion of the nearest city, where they had relative success in slaughtering all the Muters, as they were incapable of movement without their mounts, which were too startled by the unfamiliarity of the situation to aid the Muters in escape. After a few days, thousands of the Muters metallic exoskeletons littered the floor of the city, along with their bloody and mutilated insides, which resembled fetuses of some kind.
The capture of this city only promised exponential growth to the success of the revolution. We used the technology there to genetically infuse our kin with eyes, mouths, noses, and enormous, proud teeth, to honor our orifice-less ancestors. Also to honor our ancestors, we practice Superbus(ritual mutilation of our lips and noses), along with wearing ornate metal helmets we call Orikari. Orikari are fashioned with spikes and blades and take a threatening appearance. Orikari originated as helmets worn by revolutionaries to protect our brains from the Muters, but with genetic advances, we have sealed our skulls and now wear them in a religious fashion.
We have successfully taken back the world, but the hundreds of years of genetic enslavement still linger on in other ways. For example, there are dozens of religions fashioned around Eye, there are religious objects and practices that have origins to our slave past such as Superbus and the Orikari, our major cities are built on the ruins of the Muters cities, and we ourselves are built as to honor our past with our exaggerated teeth. Will we ever experience life as it was before the Muters? What was it like? Do we want to? Whatever the answers are, hopefully we learn from the past and find out the origins of the Muters, as to suppress a similar scenario from happening in the future.

I’m guessing this takes place in a universe where humanity tried to uplift dolphins, only for them to enslave and genetically alter themselves and humanity in order to traverse on land. The mutations were simply the genes of humans past. Such a sad existence.
