My submission for and 's contest.
So the contest involved designing some art for their wedding programs, and the idea was to communicate the theme of eternal love using their characters, 's purple winged unicorn, Almalphia (I always want to call her Amalthea
) and 's silver dragon, Rhogart.I've taken some severe liberties with the character designs, particularly Rhogart's, I hope that's ok! My main object objective was to make them look super good together, which is why I've made them the same size and given Rhogart fur. The composition is circular, because the circle is a practically universal symbol of eternity. Notice that the curl of smoke coming from Rhogart's nostrils forms a heart, as do two locks of Almalphia's hair close to Rhogart's face. I chose to do a nighttime background because night is so much more romantic, and I put lilacs in (they're a bit ginormous, no?) because said she likes them.

"We did, and this was the cover for our Wedding Pamphlets, we included all of the artists in DA that helped to give us the best most romantic fantasy wedding ever! The contest was such a hit, and because we couldn't decide on one winner because the other piece we chose was just as wonderful, the other piece was made into an iron on for our heralds flag. My son walked in front of the wedding party with the flag, and it is hanging on our wall in the house! I will always cherish the art that was done for us, and someday when I have a bit of money I would love to commission you (Inkscribble)again hun...you made everyone ohhh and awwww with your magnificent portrait of Almalphia and Rhogart! <3 " -
Reading that comment made me wish I had an epic inkscribble flag at my wedding! This piece is so magical and wonderful! I am ashamed I have not stumbled across it before! I love how you can see them longing for each other in there body and expressions, so romantic!

LOL! You are the best! You did such a magnificent job on this! We got married in August 08 and are going to be married forever, our friends tease us that we will always be in the Honeymoon phase and they are so jealous. We are both working on losing weight, so far he has lost 85 pounds since the wedding and I have lost about 30. We plan on getting rededicated/handfasted on our 10th anniversary and want to wear clothes just like what we wore at the wedding, only wayyyyyy smaller. I hope we can do something similar and do a contest again, I and I hope you will be a part of it again!

This is absolutely stunning. I think what I'm most in awe of how well you kept the masculinity of the dragon, with his sharp talons, his strong powerful wings, curling horns. And then you have all the grace and beauty of the unicorn, so slender a beauty, and such graceful wings.
I so love how you made them connected into a circle. It's like they make a wedding band in and of itself. And then the space between them being that lovely, deep blue night with little twinkling stars. Oh, and we can't forget the two little hearts of sultry smoke and lovely locks that drift on the whispering wind. Truly, a beautiful piece. The happy couple would be crazy not to use this.

I'm glad you think the dragon's masculine, because I worked really hard to make sure he was!
The circle is a symbol of eternity the world over, which is what I was thinking of, but I believe that symbolism is what whoever came up with the wedding band had in mind.

And definitely! That's part of what I love about this is wasn't "girly" so to speak. I mean beautiful, but in both the masculine and feminine sense.

This is just so beautiful. I love the design of the characters and the swirling feathers and wings. The faces and postures are excellent, and the wmotion of love is well portrayed.
