Description
Despite my computer still being a largely expensive oversized paperweight, I managed to claw my way through adversity and toil, scan this and put it up, just to show you something cool. For you. Because I care that much.
Also because I had a moment to spare at work, and the scanner was free, and I been up to my ears in girly girl work and needed a break.
So anyhow... yeah, I like beholders. Well, I like my kind of beholder, I'm honestly not a huge fan of 3E D&D type with the bony jaw that breaks the spheroid shape. Also, those guys are insanely powerful enemies when you take into account all the rays they can throw with those eyes, so it's really hard to reasonably take one down without some sort of mcguffin.
Yeah, definitely not D&D canon. If I can, I'll take this farther... clean it up, give it a proper background. But probably not until after me PC is brought back to life. In the meantime, enjoy the dwarf evisceration.

Brilliant stuff...I'd have to agree, I don't like the D&D one much either.

oh god i hate these guys XD
agree with the jaw, i always loved the FDMOD design much better (Flying Deadly Meatball Of Doom) much better
the goatee looks awesome and the munching is just awesome XD but shouldnยดt that guy be unable to cast in front of the main eye? or is he just a lil sideways?

Ahhhh... I'm gonna say he began his casting round before the enemy turned and put the bit on him. He's gotta roll to save v. shock or that fireball is going everywhere.

Just one quick question for da master, what size did you draw this on? A4, A3?

This is actually drawn on animation bond, which is something odd like 12x10 or something... I just snagged a sheet while working and doodled away at it. If I take this further what I'll most likely do is layout a background on 14x17 Bristol and then lightbox this scene in for a complete illustration, but I can't honestly say that'll happen for certain.

Nope... I think I might have talked about doing so once, but at the moment the place is a wreck (half-pre-moving, half-slobby-bastard) and I don't have a decent camera anyhow.

LOL artist enviroment is rarely a clean space. I see the Gobelins school and others interesting areas so i have a little idea.

ooo kewl. I am guessing animation bond and Bristol are just different types of paper.
Can't wait for the bg ^^

Animation bond is just paper that's prepunched for a pegbar and not too opaque.
Bristol is a sort of light cardboard that's good for inks and pencil.

I lost many a D&D character against such foes. Nice interpretation and isn't D&D truly designed by our imaginations not some tech book. Yeah, I thought so.

Yes and no... for players, it lives in the imagination. For creative people who actually want to work for WOTC and get paid, it lives in trademarks, copyrights and official descriptions. You have to stick with the canon, and if you DO add something original, it generally becomes the client's property once you accept their check.
S'okay though, I know it's off-model, and this one's just for me.
