Description
Rough animation which will be adapted to clean animation for the upcoming HTF series "Joe is Japanese". More on that later.Look up "pen spinning" or "pen tricks" on Youtube and you can see where this comes from. I just watched a bunch of those and combined that with some logic and my limited ability to twiddle a pencil through my fingers and worked straight ahead frame to frame. Not bad for about 4-5 hours of scribbling, I guess, but nothing compared to the real deal.
No way to really key and tween 'cause I was never really sure where it would go next. It was a bitch and a half to make it loop...
-EDIT-
Looks like they've done something that fixed the problem with GIFs not displaying. Hooray!!

Sorry, I can't give you permission to use it as an avatar or anything... it's surprising enough that I'm even allowed to share it at all. >_<

Oh wow! You did that in Easytoon? I used to use that, and it was like, very very very hard! It's very fluid animation. *thumbs up*

I thought that it was a single finger passnormal to charge then to shadow. But then again, I've only been spinning for about a month now. :/

I think I understood about 1/3 of that.
I can't spin pens to speak of. On the other hand, I have learned to roll a half-dollar over my knuckles. So I've got that goin' for me.

Sweet! I can't roll anything around my knuckles; I can't use my knuckles well for anything.
And which 1/3 did you understand?

I must have done something right if any bit of it is recognizable.

No idea. I watched a bunch of videos but I don't know much about the actual moves or what they're called. I'm afraid I'm just faking it as close as I can.

This is amazing. Hands are, imo, one of the hardest things to draw, and then you do this

Hands aren't so bad, once you break 'em down to the base shapes. It takes some practice, though.

Inkthinker In reply to Wissp [2006-11-18 07:08:40 +0000 UTC]
The solution there is to just learn more about hands. Learn how they're constructed anatomically, learn how they're constructed as basic shapes, and practice the hell out of it until you feel more confident.
If something is difficult, the answer is never to just throw up your hands and say "I suck"... you gotta keep at it until you get it! Otherwise you'll always have an Achilles heel that will continue to haunt you.
The nice thing about hands is that you usually have a couple of great models attached to you at all times. But don't just concentrate on how a hand looks... think about how what you're seeing is built. Look at it as a series of very plain, basic shapes, and work on that. Forget about the fingernails, forget about the palm lines, forget about the wrinkles on the knuckles. Just work on the basic shape, and keep working at it until it's second nature.
Everything is difficult at first, but believe me... it gets easier the more you do it.

How-- you.

You know. ^^ I will pratice. And yes i do, do the "I suck" thing alot.
I'll try harder. But your so lucky to be so talented and a hard worker at that.
Thankyou.

Nope, did this in Easytoon.
Which is basically the same thing as doing it on paper, just... without the paper.
