Description
This was just a few random and coolio pic I always wanted to draw from the novel, Who Censored Roger Rabbit? I finally got a chance to draw the novel version of Jessica Rabbit too. Jessica was really, really mean in the novel compared to her good, "not bad, just drawn that way" movie counterpart. Jessica was a gold digging, manipulative, lying, thieving, backstabbing skank in the original novel. She truly loved up to her name as a femme fatale. But, strangely, I respect this version of her and I don't kno y. In the novel, Jessica was a toon model that mainly was used to advertise for commericals and ads of all kinds and also she guest stars in many different comic books and strips alike. But, Jessica had sorta a dark past before she met Roger and became the sultry, sexy star she is known for. Jessica used to be a stripper back in her younger years, who basically got pleasure off of guys ogling her in the crowd. Basically, she was quite the attention getter. Until, one day, a tycoon fell in love with her, took her out of the stripper business, dolled her up, taught her how to act, and gave her a job at the studio her was in charge of in hopes to get her to love in love with him and show him some "gratitude" for his hard work. But, then, a company that made adult underground comics like the ones from the 70's tricked her into doing a sex scene in a comic entitled Lewd, Crude, And In The Mood. I can't tell anymore about her back story from this. I don't want to ruin it for the people who want to read the novel itself someday and to offend the Jessica Rabbit fans out there.Anywho, I also drew Eddie sorta more realisitcally this time. I got the inspiration to add less lining on him from the Disney Saturday morning cartoon series that was based off of the film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Bonkers. I noticed even thought the "real" human characters were animated along with the toons in the show, they were somehow colored more darker than the toons. That was the only way the audience could tell the difference between the human characters and toons. So I used a similar technic when drawing (or in this case, sketching Eddie). I basically sketched him to make him seem more realistic compared to the other toons on the paper. It was also a pretty awesome was to practice on my human figures too. I based the design of Eddie on how he was like in the book and also how he was like on this over: www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/w/g… . The model for Eddie that was used on the cover was Gary K. Wolf himself, whom of which I also used for this pic:insaneasylum123.deviantart.com… . I even drew him along with his humanoid toon detetcive rival from the novel, Lt. Cleaver Clever.
If u guys aren't familiar with the character, he was basically a humanoid toon cop, who acted more man than toon. He was sorta this stereotype of the "Offical" cop or authority character u would see in a film noir movie or novel, who tries to take charge of the case even though he doesnt kno exactly whats really going on. He would most get on to Eddie's case for being a rebal private eye and for having different ways to solve a case. I based Clever's body figure and form off of the bouncer gorilla from the movie and a bit off his old concept art u can see here: lh5.ggpht.com/-ixtzJrlg7JA/UXC… . This was where I also got the inspiration for Jessica's attire and the pic of Clever and Eddie too.
If u wondering what those things r in the picture ogling Jessica, those r the trolls from the novel. For some reason when I heard the descriptions of the trolls and their duties, it somehow reminded me of the weasel minus the insanity, murderous looks, and criminal personalities. The trolls were basically these workers/servents for a corrupt cartoon producer pair by the name of the DeGreasey Brothers (see pic of comic referencing them here: insaneasylum123.deviantart.com… . One of the trolls would sorta climb ontop of another one to get enough to catch smoke puffs from the toons ears they might get from smoking or drinking. So, I sorta used that idea and made on of the trolls catch floating toon hearts instead of smoke puffs. I also made them ogle Jessica because that's what turns her on. Lol XD
I have some good news for u guys too. I recently got in contact with Gary K. Wolf himself and he really loved my Roger Rabbit pieces and he wants to add them on his website. I'm going try to keep in contact with him. XDD IM TOTALLY FANBOIYING RIGHT NOW!!! Lol.
Anyway, u can read the comment he made about my pic here. Watch him on: wolfmangart.deviantart.com/
"Looks exactly like Eddie/him/me/somebody. Great artwork. Contact me through my website, www.garywolf.com. If you're amenable, and my six thousand and twelve advisors don't object, I'll post it there.Gary K. Wolf (himself!)And a shout out to everybody who left a nice comment about my work. I've got a new one coming out in November which is much more like the first one than the second."
I have to thank, for putting me in contact with Mr. Wolf. Keep an eye out for more of my work, guys. I only have about two more pieces to go till I'm done with the series artwork based off of Censored.

I've never read any of the original books, but it certainly is interesting to compare the original source material to the more familiar take on the characters. Who knows how the movie could have turned out if they went another direction with the characters?

Here's a trivia fact:
Did u kno that they were actually gonna do the movie exactly like the book only without the word balloons and bubbles rule like in the book?
Here's what it would have looked like: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDKfLZ… & www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw77Vt… &

Ikr. It was actually gonna be set during the modern day (the 1980's) like the book actually was. U can tell from the graffiti on the walls from when Roger was running from the cops and begged Eddie for help. I always wanted to see how would it be like if they actually did the movie like the book

Seems to me like the NES video game actually bears a little resemblance to the early film design concepts. Or at least Eddie Valiant looks more like the detective in the screen tests than Bob Hoskins.

thanx. ^^ I'm actually working on another pic from the novel actually, and one of the pics is a certain object that triggers all of the events of the murder and mayhem in the book.
