Description
Finally, I got off my lazy ass and started listening to the original audiobook to the novel that inspired the live action/animated film, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?!", that was called "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?!". I must say, so far, the book is better than the movie. I drew down this version of Roger based on the description in the book. In the original book, he had light brown fur, 6 foot tall by height (probably counting the 18 inch ears), wears big fire hydrant red sneakers, yellow overalls with red suspenders, and duct tape that holds up the red suspenders in the back and white hands with no gloves. I drew in the gloves because I thought of the movie at the time I drew and listened to the book. I also drew his hands with out the gloves too to fix it. Also that word balloon on his was the only was that Toons (cartoon characters that lived in the real world) used to speak to humans and show different emotions depending on the size, shape, color, and form of the balloon. After they finish talking, the word balloons either melted or just poof into dust on the ground leaving the white residue from the balloon from whatever spot on the ground it was hovering over. U should read the book. Its a lot more darker and somehow a bit more serious than the movie was, but still retains the Looney Tune-ish humor and the Maltese Falcon-like film noir style. The book was set in the same time it was written, in the 80's, and the movie was set in the 40's and/or 50's. And Roger was a newspaper comic strip character instead of a theatrical cartoon character like in the movie. I feel like drawing more pics based around the book like a comic strip that Eddie read of "Baby Herman", a few characters and scenes, and/or maybe the (spoiler for those planning to read in book) Roger's dead body that Eddie found in Roger's house. Keep ur eye out for more artwork soon.Related content

Remember this! I love the way they did illustrate the characters a lot more and put a lot more detail behind the story as well. That was actually a video that use my artwork for showing examples to the original Roger Rabbit novel. Here it is: thatfellowinthecoat.com/jaimetβ¦

I have seen this video before! I love Jaimetud and his From Pages to Pictures show! Your art for that episode almost looked like production art, it was well done! My favorite illustration What's the Difference made was their protrayl of book Roger's death, was it yours?

Thanks! I was partly inspired from the original production artwork from Disney but wanted to do completely in my own style. The others I actually just did listening to the book itself Android download the descriptions for each character and events

Nnnnnaaaaahhhhhhh lol I've seen it here and there but I haven't seen it completely until you posted it up. The production concept art was avaliable anywhere on the web and mainly on the WFRR dvd, which I own and was signed by Gary K. Wolf himself. ^_^

I personally prefer the movie to the book, myself. Still, everyone is entitled to their own interests and opinions.Β Β

I picture it being a little like District 9 in which Eddie comes across a cartoon wolf (I picture him looking somewhat like Lobo from the Sonic comics) and his son escaping with a human woman. The father is mortally wounded and dying, but he is found by Eddie Valiant who he then grasps the hand of and passes something onto him while telling him to take care of his son and the woman to his brother (who also lookes like Lobo) in Toon Town, and that this will prove to him and the others he can be trusted. At the time, a secret organization is seeking to take over and run things like how they were in Johannesburg and are looking into toon skills to try and find ways to apply them to people for fighting. After at least a weak, Eddie would begin to experience nasty headaches while at the same time feel more open to toon humor with Roger and his friends. Eventually, while celebrating the birth of his child with Dolores, he falls ill and passes out. When he wakes up in the hospital he finds himself with a white-furred hand with paw pads looking animated and finds he is slowly becoming a toon. When the organization gets wind of it, he is captured and going to be experimented on, but is set free by Roger and his wife with the help of the mysterious woman and the wolf pup boy. Now he must find the wolf's brother, get the boy and woman to him, and find a way to stop the government while dealing with his transformation into a cartoon wolf (ressembling Drago from the Sonic comics). What do you think of this idea?

Ironically, Roger Rabbit is actually the son of a certain wiseguy, grey rabbit.

Ikr. So far, its getting good. I'm starting to love it more than the movie a bit, but I don't love it as much as the Roger Rabbit Maroon Cartoon shorts made after the movie.
