Description and I r working on a comic adaption of Gary Wolf's Who Censored Roger Rabbit. Judgie need some help with picking out a way on how to use the word balloons to classify the toons speech. So, I drew this up for her as sort of a toon speech study. The other doodle r different ideas I had for designs to use of Roger in the comic. I was sorta messing around a bit with them. The one standing I wanted to combine the looks of a traditional Tex Avery character with the movie/Disney version of Roger. I sorta wanted to use the movie design as an influence on Roger's design in the comic to make him more noticeable with the fans of the movie, comics, and Maroon Cartoons, but, at the same time, use more influence from the novel in it too. The Rabbit was was actually inspired by the modern day Trix Rabbit, one of the main influences and inspirations, and Tex Avery's Bugs Bunny (design used in A Wild Hare: www.dailymotion.com/video/x405… . That was y I also added the "blue" polka dot-less tie like in the novel cover: covers.openlibrary.org/w/id/71… . Gary mentions it in this interview: www.imnotbad.com/2011/12/exclu… . The legs r the legs of Mother Herman of the Roger Rabbit and baby Herman Maroon Cartoons (2.bp.blogspot.com/_0_ynVlwAg9U… . While I was making this pic, I was thinking to myself, "since they made tons of nude pics of Jessica Rabbit  , what if they made one of Mother Herman"? And, this is how it came out. Hahahaha I wanted to use Mother in a fanfic of Roger Rabbit possibly making her one of the actual main characters or the main focus on the story like she's getting blackmailed by a sex tape of her and another toon or she's framed for arson. I haven't really chosen a good one yet, but I'm not really sure about using that first idea.    But, back to the picture~!!!

In the comic, much like the original novel, toons speak by word balloons or thought bubbles. But, the human or toon and actually touch, read, or react in anyway physically to the toon's word balloons.

-Here r the types of word balloons I might use in the comic:

*The Deflating Balloon: When a word balloon get stuck, burn a hole in, or poked with a sharp object, the word balloon/bubble can "POP!" and deflate like a regular balloon with the air letting out of it, but instead of air, white dust spouts out from the hole in the balloon.

*"Censored" Balloon: When a toon tries to hold in a few "certain words", the toon is able to literally censored itself by covering the word of their choice with a black censored bar or with symbols like @#$%^&*?! (symbol swearing: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php… to basically keep its wholesome image, speaking out of anger, excitement, to not let the person or thing they're talking to how they truly feel, or not to seem rude to the person or the they're communicating with.

*The "Dying" Balloon:
~When a toon feels weak, tired, old, or  just shy, their word balloons may come out as more shaky and/or with a weak wiggling tail.

*Cupid's Balloon (AKA How To Tell When A Toon Is In Love <3):
~When a toon feels emotions relating to love or care, they're word balloon/bubble comes out in the shape of a heart and basically pops into little hearts that float up into the air.

*Shocked, Shouting, or Excited Word Balloon:
~Like the word says, when a toon shouts or screams out of shock, fear, or excitement, they're word balloons come out spiky and sharp. The points on the balloon and poke or stab anything that stands close to it depending how sharp the spikes on the balloon is or how loud the toon shouts or screams at the top of their lungs.

*Disintegrating Balloon:
~After a toon finishes talking with a regular (or abnormal) word balloon/bubble, the word balloon/bubble would pop or disintegrate leaving behind a pile or a splotch of white dust or some kind of white residue on the floor or anywhere the toon was standing. For humans, its a pain in the ass to remove from the carpet. Sometimes, the human or toon can recycle the tiny or huge letters or words from the destroyed balloons or bubbles for signs, new letters for a typewriter, books, paper, new balloons/bubbles, etc..

*"Dead" Balloon:
~When a toon is dying or dies, they tend to speak with the "dying" balloon/bubble. After they finish saying what they have to say with its dying breath, the balloon/bubble splats or plops on where ever they r like white paint or water. The letters from the "dead" balloon tend to bleed off the balloon/bubble like blood off the wall or they will fall or roll off.

*Thought Bubble:
~A thought bubble always forms when a toon tries to think about anything on (or out of their minds). Thought bubbles is a cloud-like substance that usually hovers over a toon's head when ever they start to think or get into deep thought. Thought bubbles come in two forms: the chain thought bubble and the "fuzzy" bubble. The chain thought bubble is the almost universal symbol for thinking for toons. It consists of a large, cloud-like bubble containing the text of the thought or a literal mental picture in and from the toon's mind, with a chain of increasingly smaller circular bubbles leading to the toon. Humans and toons r able to see what's going on in the toon's thought bubble and react with it or to it physically. Some of the thoughts in the bubble can be animated or still life depending on what the toon is thinking about.

*Human Word Balloons/Bubbles (verbal talking): This way is for humans or for toons who can speak verbally and vocally. This ability is really rare for a toon to actually speak verbally or sometimes they can speak verbally while speaking in a bubble/balloon making it seem like they're either reading from the bubble without skipping or stuttering or just repeating from what it says. This a way for the reader to classify when a human is talking to a toon or when a toon is actually speaking verbally.

I originally had more bubble/balloons to do, but I sorta ran out of room on the paper. I might include these forgotten bubbles or balloons on my next Roger Rabbit piece relating to the plans for a comic adaption of Who Censored Roger Rabbit? Sorry, if this description came out a bit lazy. I didn't really feel like typing this in two days even after I finished and saved my pic in the Sta.sh. I might also post more artwork relating to Lupin III done in the style of Monkey Punch and the original manga series and artworks relating to it. It might be a while when I start on it due to my distracting thoughts.

Those word balloons would just be so animated in an adaptation of 'Censored', as animate as the characters who speak with them.

It would have been interesting if Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was more faithful to the original book Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, and the Toon characters spoke with word balloons!

Ikr. I thought the same thing too. I actually found the original screenplay or script (can't remember which) of the movie along with clips on how it was going to be like
