In exchange for free lessons from him, I've promised to teach any other artists anything I can help them with. I think that is an amazing deal.
This is a new color palette and technique for me. I will be doing lots of little studies.

What is the palette? Just curious. I like his paintings, especially the one of the Chinese girl looking in the mirror with the masks....

The palette is and an under drawing in burnt umber. Followed by a a little bit of phalo blue and umber mixed in. I didn't let it dry and painted the skin tones in umbers, naples yellow, burnt sienna, white, and a purple mix. It should be dull. When dry I glazed lots of bright color into it.
The whole idea is to not allow any hard edges until the very end and then only just a few.

I really love this one, question, what color palette do you use? everytime I do skin it turns out mucky. You both have amazing of talent. You have plenty of potential.

Great "masters" feel and look!! Someday you should post the palate you used-{looks like ultramarine blue-burn umber etc..? I dunno

Wow! Great work and great detail, Anna. It's such a small piece too. I love the classical feel to it, and I really appreciate your willingness to pass on advice to others, it the way art was meant to be.
These days too many people guard their techniques too closely, apparently afraid of being surpassed in skill or popularity. Art is about sharing, whether it's your work or your methods!
