Better than what you get in that silly CW series...which, yeah, I've been watching.

If you mean the "disguise" I agree. If you mean the concept, remember that "Arrow" is set before Steven actually becomes "Green Arrow", and season 1 (at least; S2 still on back order in the UK) is actually telling 2 stories in 2 time periods interleaved.

I'm sick of the backstory.
I liked it better when Oliver was all alone on the island, forced for the first time in his rich, spoiled prettyboy life to fight for survival, with no one to depend on but himself.

That, and everyone in every soap opera is really, really STUPID---I'M TALKING TO YOU, ROY!

Para 1 - Well, I do say it explicitly in every message, that you're entitled to your opinion. I agree that the stuff on the island is good drama, but that doesn't mean that what's happening in Starling can't be good as well. Ok? Para 2 - Agreed, with the note that we may not mean the same shows by "soap opera". However; perhaps we shouldn't talk soaps on someome else's art?

Especially when this is the "Arrow" I found so inspirational in my youth, as opposed to the CW soap opera (which, for some reason, I'm still watching).

Ah, it wasn't a book (or animation?) that I ever followed back in the day.

Well as good as Arrow is....it's not quite Green Arrow for me. I'm mostly blaming DCs new direction with 52 and the success of Smallville.

Oh I love the idea of a "real world" version of the Arrow, but do they all have to be so pretty and stupid?
I'd like a little less MTV in my action adventure dramas.

Green Arrow and BatmanΒ have no super powers, they made a serious commitment to train themselves, body, mind and spirit, to be what their cities needed.
That's a real hero.

It's certainly a more exciting hero who pits his limitations against superior odds.

But I'd say any person who sacrifices themselves in the cause of helping others is doing heroic deeds

Good pic.Β

I have only one thing to say about the Arrow TV series. Well, 2 things -Β

1) Stephen Amell looks a lot like Chris O'DonnellΒ

2) I totally want Ollie and Felicity together somewhere down the line. Β

I actually learned to love archers. I used to feel they were totally outclassed in a hero universe...but in time I found that what made them so heroic

My name is Oliver Queen. After five years on a hellish island, I have come home with only one goal: to save my city. But to do so, I can't be the killer I once was. To honor my friend's memory, I must be someone else. I must be... something else.

Sorry sorry just had to quote that because that automatically comes into my mind whenever I see anything Green Arrow related these days. Still great pic.

As much as I like the series...it's so not Green Arrow for me. I just can't get buy without his beard, the attitude and his candor....but still enjoy the series. Just wish people would get their costumes on

DarksideStraxus In reply to Inspector97 [2014-04-13 16:02:34 +0000 UTC]

Now that you mention it one of the things that used to bug the crap out of me in the comics was the fact that NOBODY could tell Oliver was Green Arrow when he was the only guy in the world who had a beard like that. Also the Green Lantern and Green Arrow mini series was one of the weirdest books I remember reading as it dealt with weird cults, racism and Speedy becoming a heroine addict which was some pretty heavy stuff for the time and while the artwork doesn't hold up well today it still was an interesting read and I think that was one of the few Green Arrow stories I liked as everything that came after that just felt meh to me.

You are not wrong. The silver age...which is now the bronze....? Oh well, I liked those stories to...and the Longbow hunters and Mike Grells run on the book.
