I saw a documentary on the discovery channel about storm photographers and they talked about how hard it was to photograph lightning because it's just a flash in time that's gone in a blink. Congrats on getting such a beautiful photo. Awesome!

How to catch a lighting strike:
1. Use a tripod.
2. Must be at dusk or night.
3. Set your camera on Manual and a large F number, ISO at 100 or 200 so that you can set something like 4 seconds to longer exposure time WITHOUT surrounding lights clipping the picture. (Make some test shots to find the correct settings)
4. Aim at the storm and shoot at will... never stop until you have decent shots or the storm is upon you and may damage your camera or injure you. ALWAYS BE PRUDENT with thunderstorms.

ooo wonderful, thanks for the tips... knowing my bad luck though i'd get hit by the lightning whilst trying to shoot it! =] fingers crossed that doesn't happen!
