Description
The point of divergence here is the Second Boer War. Rather than Germany cheering on the Boers, they decide to enter the war on their side. The war ends up much longer and with the British loosing. After the war, the Boer and Griqua republics form the united South African Republic, and gain some land from Britain after a treaty is made. The Germans push Namibia's border all the way to meet Bechuanaland in the south.Eventually, Cape Colony becomes the Greater Cape Republic, a dominion of the British Empire. World War I occurs as in OTL, and Germany looses Namibia to the Greater Cape. Additionally, Mozambique sells its northern two provinces to the British to avoid any wars after Britain becomes extremely ambitious with the Nyassa Comapny.
A few decades later, after Mozambique's independence from Portugal, Comoros and Madagascar's independence from France, Kalaharia (OTL Botswana) and Matabele Republic's (OTL Zimbabwe) independence from the United Kingdom and Namibia's independence from the Greater Cape, the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) is formed.
