Description
Woo! I finally finished this!Made for , who asked how I made my maps and I offered to make a tutorial.
I'm really sorry about the walls of text, especially the huge one explaining how to color areas. There was no way that I could think of to put it in pictures.
Hope you guys like it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me!

Got any tips on how to use this to turn an old 1700s map into a modern one? Or you think there's too much stuff on 'em?

I've never found flag-making particularly challenging, nor do I believe that I'm good at it, so for the meantime, no, until I study some more vexillology and become better at making flags.

I have a problem deleting the path when done... the curved text has this green outline that I can't get rid of...

Yeah, you just have to hide the path.

Nope, I use the GNU Image Manipulation Program, or GIMP, available at www.gimp.org.

Nice. I'd change the "little bit" of research, though

Not always. Sometimes you just want to make a map for fun, and all you need to know is the place names or something.
But yes, usually it's not a "little bit".

But everyone prefers well-thought out maps ^^ I mean, just look at poor Abby. Still, nice tutorial, though I prefer Inkscape.

True.
I have been using GIMP for over a year now, so Inkscape is quite different and confusing for me. I guess it's just a matter of being comfortable with a certain program.
