Look! You met an alien and he wants to give you a high five.... or maybe he wants to hypnotize you and control your mind....
Alright! Now after a month, I'm back on track and ready to start posting artworks all over again ^w^ And in order to start drawing, I went to the random pokemon generator website just to choose a random mon that would be drawn. One of the mons that spawned there was this little guy called Elgyem; I mean, this small grey alien is pretty adorable looking (and its evolution, Beheeyem, is also cool looking) so I went with it <3.
I decided to go a little overboard with the colors, this pokemon has neat glowy fingers so I had to go with some lighting effects and some lens flares (and a little fun fact: Did you know the colored orbs on the hands of both Elgyem and Beheeyem are based on the look of the searching probe and the eyes of the Martians from the 1953 film adaptation of "The War of the Worlds", yep, here are some images of those creepy things www.scifimoviezone.com/imagebl… www.scifimoviezone.com/imagebl… )

Yeah! I love reading about the background behind the designs of lots of Pokemon, from real world animals to even kaijus and mythology. That's why I also love seeing lots of artwork of them and you can always learn a new thing or two, especially once the designers themselves reveal some neat info about the games' development.
And thanks! I really wanted to emphasize the shadows in Elgyem, since its design is quite roundy and sleek, so he can shine among the stars ^^

Oh yeah, like how they revealed snorlax was based of one of the workers of the studio haha, and how it was Atsuko Nishida who actually designed most of the cute pokemon like the first starters and even Pikachu!

Yeah! Atsuko Nishida made the cutest mons from the 1st gen along with some of the newest, like Mincinno in Gen V. And the worker who was the inspiration for Snorlax is Koji Nishino, just search a pic of him and you'll see the resemblace!
