Next time I find the remains of a dead thing I'm going to take the bone home and try this. I might even try it with a lump of polymer clay... I know it could probably be done pre-baking but it might actually work better if I baked the clay into shape and did it properly.

InupiaqScrybe In reply to talyra [2008-12-17 18:38:28 +0000 UTC]

Don't forget the teeth and claws too!

It would totally work on poly clay....let us know what you come up with!

I'm British. We've wiped out anything big enough to have claws worth working with. I suspect I will be sticking with poly clay for now...

Very comprehensive, when I find a piece of good bleached (but not dried-out) bone, I'll give it a go, and I'll let you know how it turned out

Really awesome! I'm so glad you posted this! Its great to see how you achieve your results...your tutorial is very clear and educational. The pictures are very helpful, and give good demonstration. I like how you kept it organized as you showed the techneques needed for using different base materials.
I may just try this out- not that ivory or baleen is plentiul where I live- but perhaps on some hard plastic as you suggested in pt. 1.

This is amazing - and, it seems like a simple basic process, although getting the hang of it must be hard! I imagine that finding the right pressure varies from material to material, but I'm very excited to hopefully get to try this sometime!

Thank you very much for doing these!

InupiaqScrybe In reply to taeliac [2008-12-17 00:03:32 +0000 UTC]

Your welcome!

It's pretty basic stuff (or at least it looks that way ).....but I do mine quite a bit differently than most....and I learned bits and pieces from all over the place...I wish I had a tut like this when I first started lol.

Thanks for the fav
