Description No idea why it took me so long to get these up, other than insane number of cons hammering me over the head.

These guys are the larger size of the small Hetalia mochi found here ->

They are roughly 10"tall by 12" across and feature appliqued eyes and embroidered details.

More will be prepared through November and into December, if you are interested in making one your's they are $30 for all 7 existing designs. Other designs will be priced based on difficulty and time it takes to complete, most cases will be $30 but covering my bases. If you are interested in one please feel free to note me here on DeviantART or email me at StudioKitsu@gmail.com

Sounds like my house at the moment, I'm restocking in time for NYCC and am swimming in mochi in various stages both large and small.

Hey! I bought a Germany this year at Otakon right before AA closed, I was sooo happy!! So yah I have two quick questions for you. 1) Where did you get all the official facial expressions for the mochis because I think you did an awesome job on them, they are PERFECT!!!
2) Could you explain in detail how you make one of these, for example could you make a tutorial for making Italy, I would be soooo greatful if you did, or even if you get sent me a note of step by step instructions if you dont want them open to the public. I just really want to become good at some type of art because I suck at drawing, painting sculpting etc. PLEASE HELP ME, an aspiring sewer.

Hey to answer your questions.

1) I kept an eye open for new mochi comics and use them as a reference. For ones that haven't shown up I make one based off of what I would imagine to look like.

2) Its a bit of a tough request just because I do these for sale so I want to be helpful but not give out all of my "secrets". That said though, I will be eventually doing a tutorial on the basic mochi shape and I have also done videos of myself making these. The process has changed a little bit but the basics are still there. Here is a link the the America one I did, you can find the rest on my channel. [link]

Thanks!

Ok thank you sooo much for your time, and no need to worry I really suck at stuff like this so I will not be selling them or taking ANY of your business, plus I have no desire to do so. Once again I would like to thank you so much and let you know how much I really appreciate this!

invader-gir In reply to Mariah1125 [2011-08-05 08:42:00 +0000 UTC]

No problem, to be honest I don't think you specifically are going to be trying to make your own to sell. I've had people ask specifically for my patterns and the delivery might as well have screamed wanting to make their own to sell.

For people like you who have an actual interest in learning I want to put together more tutorials because a pattern is a bit too narrow a view to learn from. A tutorial will give me a better ability to show what else you could do with a shape or technique. I have 2 I want to do which is how to put together your own mochi shape and adjust it to meet your needs and one on how to work cleanly with fur. The fur one is actually all documented, I just need to do the write up and put it into tutorial format.

Also if you see anything you'd like to see put into tutorial form please let me know and I'll add it to the list of ones to work on.

Oh man! That really is cute, and I love the little top hat. How did the painting go for the eyes? Did you have any trouble with the fleece's texture? I know a lot of people tend to have issues with it either going on too light and clumping or too heavy and looking gloopy. Your's looks like a decent consistency.

creamated-chocolate In reply to invader-gir [2011-08-03 23:59:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks~ :3
It was difficult at first because I had a different way of painting it. Then I just painted the eyes completely green and took it from there. It got easier.

invader-gir In reply to creamated-chocolate [2011-08-04 06:48:40 +0000 UTC]

*nod* I know what you mean. It took me a little while to get used to painting fleece and even now I have some issues with it. Its why I actually decided to embroider things over just painting.

So Adorable! I've fallen in love~

Question, for the eyes I know you sewed them on but how? o.o I just can't get it right....my stitches are so small

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

invader-gir In reply to Otaku-Utau-Sun [2011-06-30 02:17:49 +0000 UTC]

My machine has a stitch with adjustment option on it that I use to do different thicknesses of line.

Otaku-Utau-Sun In reply to invader-gir [2011-06-30 03:07:40 +0000 UTC]

oh nice,lucky!
i spent just now 2-3 hours finding the right stitch XD

invader-gir In reply to Otaku-Utau-Sun [2011-06-30 09:52:34 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yea. When in doubt check the manual for your machine. There's lots of really nifty tips in there that are useful when you least expect it.

Also I counter your 2-3 hours with 6 of appliqueing faces on. I wasn't expecting to actually work for so long but once I got on a roll I decided to do all of the ones I'm doing for Otakon. Its not something I suggest doing since my machine is a bit warm for my liking now that I'm done.

Is it the Switzerland one in your gallery? He looks adorably angry. XD And it doesn't actually look too bad.

I would suggest if you do embroidery again like that to pick up some stabilizer (if in a pinch interfacing will work). It keeps the fabric from bunching because of the stitching, if you are using it the bunching you're getting between the eyes happens from time to time and the easiest way to stop it after is to just cut the interfacing between the eyes. I do it with most of the plushes I do. Also another "trick" I've found is if it seems like your thread is really tight (if the stitch width seems a bit small and the fabric is bunching even with stabilizer) then lower your thread tension. Normally I'll have mine set to 0 unless I have some wonky spool of thread I'm working with.

Awwwww! *totally wants a Prussia for herself*

I saw your Youtube vid for how you make these; totally awesome! I've made a Russiamochi already, and he is full of the polyfill as well as beaniebaby beans. He's not very big, though, because I hand-sewed him. (And that takes forever>.> But he turned out cute, so what can I say?)

Regardless, I love them so!

I would love to get a Prussia one, how much would he be? And would you be willing to make a Gilbird to send with him?

Thanks much!
