This is from the Cosfu meet at Otakon 08. All of the hoodies were made by either , his sister or myself.Debuted at: Otakon08
Time taken to complete: 3 weeks off and on
Character: Pikachu, Mudkip, and Mew
Series or Game: Pokemon
Inspiration for cosplay: It was more like a group decision while talking with a few other cosfu members on skype. That plus was poking me for a couple months to make him a mudkip hoodie after seeing the one I made for sandshrew.
Comments: These were actually surprisingly fun to put together. Still hated cutting all the fabric out but thats how it is with most costumes I make.

I love it they're so adorable. I'm gonna make my own pika hoodie because frankly it'd be cheaper to make one than to buy it from Calgary Cosplay.

Ehhhh I do commissions too and although my prices on the couple things we've done the same of are under their's I don't at all fault them for their price. Its tough hitting that magic number of charging a fair price while not ripping yourself off in time and effort plus expenses.
I commend you're making your own though.

Actually, if you're new to sewing its totally normal to feel like you're a complete klutz. Its a bit overwhelming at first trying to learn how to not just use a machine or how to hand sew but also how to cut pieces to make the shapes you're looking for. Almost every project I do I have moments where I end up thinking to myself "how the devil do I do this?!" So don't feel bad.

Not horrendously difficult. The hardest part is figuring out what to add and how to add it to give the impression of that pokemon.

These are fantastic! I absolutely love them. I don't make costumes but I make plushies a lot and I know the pain of cutting a bunch of fabric, wire, and foam. *shudder* I remember a life-sized Charizard I tried to do... I swear I couldn't write or draw for a week after.

Making plushies isn't too far from making costumes actually from what I've seen. I actually have a harder time making patterns for plushy type pieces than clothing.

Hoodies are probably the most forgiving piece of clothing you could attempt if that helps. Especially if you pick up a pattern for it. Then its a matter of just modifying the crap out of it.
