In honor of the new, re-release of The Nightmare Before Christmas and the official start of the Halloween Season (a.k.a. when the Halloween Adventure store opens in my area), I present to you the first in a series: Before The Nightmare Before Christmas!

While rewatching the film, my mom asked what I thought Halloween town would've been like in the years before the movie starts and these drawings are my idle speculation.

Next up, it's Little Lock, Shock & Barrel, looking so gosh-darn adorable in their Victorian-style pram! ^_^ Barrel's got his eye on something fun outside the carriage, and Lock & Shock are sharing a knowing glance at the trouble he'll be in should he actually manage to escape.

Of course, as their are all essentially, fairytale characters and could reasonably come from nothing, but I like the idea of them having actually been born - thus I had to design a mother for the three future troublemakers.

Even if I draw her from the front, you'll never seen her face - it'll always be hidden by that lampshade of a funeral veil I gave her, lol. I figure it's safer that way. ^_^ I call her "The Widow", and naturally, the circumstances of her husband's death are highly suspect (she's gotta have a touch of morbidity to her amid the tragedy, right?). I like her outfit, though it doesn't really fit any particular era.

I have plans to place all of these series pieces in a scene of Halloweentown Square, but we'll see how that works out. My goal would be to have it all but together by Halloween, but knowing me, that may be too much to hope for, lol!
