Description
Colored version of: invader-sam.deviantart.com/art…I did it! Woo! First colored pic in quite a while! I'm pretty pleased with this, though nighttime coloring has never been something I've done much of.
I might go do the Popsicle pic now, since I seem to be on a roll!

All of them together looks so adorable. Especially when I noticed how Casper was looking at Mabel. So sweet.

You're welcome. I'm currently doing a trilogy that has a crossover in it too.

And then Zim will destroy them all. Seriously how did he agree to this, and how is Dob agreeing for him to be here ? ...Well, shenanigans, as always, I suppose X)
Dib and Dipper meeting though, I want to see that happen SO much. If only for Dib to be taken seriously for once X)

In my head, this is past the "Mopiness of Doom" stage where Zim and Dib have developed a sort of symbiotic/co-dependent relationship. It's evolved from 'must destroy you' to 'must annoy you', lol. I have a crossover fic idea in my head that I'm still working out a lot of the story beats for, but one that I know I want to include a scene where, after the kids have all met, Dib catches Zim disabling their bus's engine (they were passing through on their way to Science Camp - Dib to make Prof. Membrane happy, Zim to annoy Dib). When confronted, Zim snaps, "Just let me have this, human!" then, when pressed, goes on to tell Dib a bit about his own childhood, or rather lack thereof, and admits having felt a tad jealous of the carefree life Earth children are allowed to have. Dib, out of pity, agrees to a truce for the duration of their stay.
And also, getting to stay in town longer means Dipper can show Dib awesome things like the Manotaurs, the Gnomes, etc. So everybody wins, really!

The "co-dependant" thing is not devoid of sense. Though I doubt Zim would stop trying to destroy Dib, and feel like he would have been fine with it, as it would bring losure to their rivalry, whereas in "Mopiness of Doom", the rivalry just kind of abruptly stopped. Though it's obviously hard to say with the series having been cancelled, and it IS true that Zim was supposed to grow fond of Earth in the series finale, so I can get behind a less destructive human-hating Zim.
It is still weird to see him so... tolerant of the proximity of other humans though. But, well, seeing how crazy he is, he might actually be hanging out with them just to learn more about their weaknesses or something... and to enrage Dib, yes, that I can totally believe XD. He'd be like "ALRIGHT, you hideous female-ey human nutball, you shall be allowed to do these disGUSTING "cuddle" thingies to the GREAT AND GREENERFUL ZIM, if only to inflict delLIcious annoyance upon my enemy... which is Dib... my... Dib enemy... who shall be annoyed... by the cuddles. BE HONORED !".
Would definitely be interested in reading that fic, because that's a pretty cool crossover you imagined there. Good luck though, cause writing about Zim's childhood is, well, tricky. Especially when taking into account the episode "The Trial".
Anyway. Picture is nice X)

Wow, I appreciate how much thought you've given this. ^_^
In my mind, part of his being tolerant of the kids in this situation has a lot to do with who these kids are. Overall, I think this group is a lot less annoying than the kids in his class, haha! They also all have the attitude "Oh, you're an alien? That's cool, no big deal. We see weird stuff like that all the time!" So it's a very different dynamic. He doesn't have to hide who he is around them. And I think, at least in part, the shock of being treated with kindness, as opposed to being antagonized constantly, would temper his destructive tendencies.
And I can totally hear him telling Mabel and Lydia that (and I can hear it perfectly in his voice too!)! If I ever actually right the fic, could I use that line? It would fit in right before this scene: invader-sam.deviantart.com/art…
Heh, yeah from what I remember reading in "The Trial" his childhood consisted of sitting in a giant room with other smeets, being forcefed data until he decided to sneak out and cause the first of his many blackouts, haha! But I think, compared with that, the kind of childhood Earth kids get to have is downright idyllic! ^_^
And thanks, I'm glad you like the pic! And I'm enjoying talking about Zim's psychology with you! ^_^

Oh, no problem, go ahead and use that line. I just love impersonating Zim (well, the way he talks anyway, because I am completely unable to imitate his voice) ^^
And the video of the Invader Zim cast doing a reading of "The Trial" at InvaderCon is amazing. Seriously, I think it made it one of my favourite episodes, despite the fact that it was never actually made X)
