I haven't watched the anime or read the manga in like, forever and half, but I'm pretty sure that the pronouns they use are "he" and not "it" so I assume that they at least presume that Crona has a gender of some sort

Oh, well I watch the Japanese version and Maka and the others call Crona an 'it'. So, yeah. That's why I said that it should be 'it' instead of 'he'. Now that I think about it, I don't think even Medusa knows what gender Crona is.

I'm sorry, when I watched Soul Eater, I was too stubborn to watch it in the original Japanese version - I watched it dubbed. I could even be wrong about the dub though. It's been years...
