Artist's Training Grounds Alumni Group - Week 4 - Draw a Pony inspired by a song.

So, my first idea was a serious one, taking the literal interpretation of the theme, here is a young filly Lyra, hearing a harp for the first time, and being inspired by it. I have a couple ideas based on actual songs, but I wanted to do this one first, as it was the one that, once I thought of it, really inspired me. Filly Lyra is cute, but the mane problem came to me in designing the harp player, which I believe is my first stab at a completely original pony.

The result is that I spent WAY too much time coming up with a name and cutie mark for her. Her name is Midnight Sonata, and the cutie mark is an obvious Harp overlaid across a crescent moon. I'm not all that into making OC ponies, but I have to admit it was fun to create something wholly unique like her. I am noticing that the more art I do, the more background story I'm putting into it... I'm reaching a point where each image will just be accompanied by a full fledged fanfic. I'm amazed how much I'm putting into these.

EDIT: Made Lyra smaller to make her more Filly-like. I think the results are better, hopefully.
