These are my apparently-not-so secret tips and tricks for using Paint tool Sai.
This is not a tutorial in which you'll learn to draw, but this is a tutorial to improve your efficiency/quality when using this program.
The reason I made this tutorial is because lately I've seen a bunch of artists who claim to spend 4 hours or more on a simple chibi drawing. Later, when I watch some artists' livestream, I saw why... Ppl struggling with awkward angles, coloring large surfaces with a pen tool size 10, etc...
I think this tutorial will also benefit artists who are new to Paint tool Sai. This way they don't have to waste countless hours discovering all these tricks, like I did in the past
I hope I can help at least some ppl with this tutorial
The image I used for examples is this one: [link]

You mean what drawing tool I use?
I use the crayon and paper tool, but I disabled their textures and set shape to 'simple circle'

It's the same thing
Sai is originally a Japanese program, so there's some different translations going around.
The words might be different, but the effect is exactly the same

Excellent tutorial! Thank you very much for all of the tips. I just downloaded the free trial of Sai to see if I wanted to consider purchasing it... your tips will definitely help me make better use of my 30 days with the program instead of spending it getting frustrated

In order to deselect any sort of selection you have, click the button with the dotted square and eraser in it (called Clear Selection). It is right next to the Undo/Redo buttons.
the button next to that, with the dotted circle and rectangle is called Inverse Selection, and will select the exact opposite of what you have selected, meaning, if your lineart is clean and does not have gaps, you can just select the "background" then inverse your selection and you easily (and much more cleanly), have your selection... selected.
