My Submission for the 4th Medieval Community Contest held by the wonderfulThis piece was inspired by Lloyd Alexanderβs Prydain books and two of their protagonists, Taran the Assistant Pig-Keeper and Eilonwy of the Red-Gold Hair. Their story is a romantic one, just one of many stories that have happened in times long gone. I suppose this is one more reason why so many people love the Middle Ages. Every story, every legend and myth and fairy tale coming from those times is romantic in some way, every knight has his own fair lady and every girl has her own Prince Charming.

I love their garb! I really loved the Prydain series although it's been so long since I read them. Very sweet pose.

I got hooked on Prydain series when I was a teen and have recently re-read them - so many things came back to me in a different light, and I don't find Eilonwy quite as annoying as I used to

Yeah, I love Prydain books too, though Taran+Eilonwy aren't my fave characters (when I first read them, Eilonwy was simply annoying...) I like Fflewddur

Yup, great book. Actually, you can really see the evolution from the 1st book to the 5th - I mean, The Book of Three is such a kids' book but towards The High King they get much more profound and thought over...

I actually like the sword hilt (I am officially dire at drawing sowrds-- which is rather bad seeing as they appear in my pics an awful lot), though I think it would probably be too heavy to hold one handed-- looks like a hefty weapon to me! The colouring is excellent. I espcially like how you do hair, in particular Eilonwy's curls.

Heyyy, nice to see you again! First of all, yup, you're 100% right about the sword - I kinda expected all the people who know everything about swords get to me, so it was, like, "Oh boy, better put my bulletproof jacket on" (c) But yeah, it's official - I SUCK at drawing swords. I used references for this one, but of course got carried away with all the ornaments and stuff. So I bet he wouldn't even hold it properly if he was in battle (especially with his thin hand)... then again, out of all 5 books I don't remember where he actually fought with Dyrnwyn... anyways, you're doing a swords tutorial! Yeah, give it here - I really need it!!! No no, I'm not in the least offended - it was extremely helpful, actually
